Somewhere between 85-90% actually since a lot has been added to basegame since it first came out from 2014, but close enough. While they are probably a minority a few people might enjoy only just basegame plus mods. Not just for a little while, but for a long time. However, most people who play The SIms 4 probably will buy at least a few dlc packs if playing it long enough.

The game is totally playable without DLC. You're acting like this is some MMO where you can see a thing and the game tells you it's part of whatever DLC.

There's going to be a base game update, as there pretty much always is with packs, but obviously most things are paid DLC.
You do understand how jobs work right? You do a thing and get paid to do it? Stop asking EA to not pay their employees, because that's what you're doing whining for even more free stuff. I really wish OG base game was available. The entitled children would scream if they had that instead of what base game is today.

I find it incredibly funny how a lot of people are talking about how this is "woke" and all that and I'd like to say, this is the sims, a game where you can do anything from making a genuine family to making a dumb ass clown that looks like he's in the middle of a famine. Games should not be taken seriously in this way. Arguing pricing is reasonable, but I once again state that the sims is silly, it's always been silly, and the fact that people are getting upset about it being too gay is funny.

They've been doing this since the horse expansion or earlier I think. It's pretty bad. Just don't buy these things it's only encouraging the next Sims to cost like, $2,000+ or be some kind of subscription.

Though honestly there would be way more outrage if the pre-order items were actually, ya know, good. Some of them have been kinda nice? But nothing worth paying for (and you couldn't possibly find CC versions of the past bonus items on the internet, that would be madness ).

It's WAY more devious than that, it's FOMO. They could always have a sales model where those exclusive items are ONLY when paid full-price. But instead they go beyond that, full price AND a cut-off date.

Anyone who pays full price after that cut-off date doesn't even get the item. It's FOMO and it's a stain on our hobby.
