Disabling time-limited quest events

I want to get rid of the time-limited quest popup in the top left corner. I want to have the option to disable the quests all together, get rid of the button, get it to stay minimized when I close it, or get it to stop randomly opening or sparkling. I do not want to be forced to play a stupid, terribly boring quest on my sims just to get some freaking peace and quiet. This is stupid. I want to play my sims as I want to, not following someone else's stupid quests.
I have tried disabling Online Social Features, Custom Content and Mods (I didn't use any to start with, but I disabled the option), and In-Game Surveys from the settings. These were the "fixes" online. None of them did anything.

Replying to also hopefully get a fix or mod that makes this possible. I'm also not in the mood to do someone else's terribly designed quest that doesn't pertain to anything I want to do with my sims. EA really is trying to shove it down everyone's throats and needs to stop. It will run off a decent percentage of their players and community.

I would like to have a solution for this as well. I have given up playing for now because I don't like this stupid quest. They should allow us to turn it off!
