For Rent: Question
In For Rent, is it possible to build apartments that are 'passive'- i.e have a NPC landlord. I guess another way to put it, is can you get something close to Sims 2 Apartments in For Rent?

The game will generate a landlord if you just build an apartment but don’t purchase it. All my building has a random NPC as landlord because I am not interest in playing landlord and only play as tenant.

That is nice to know. I really don't like the idea of being the landlord either. So much to do and then having to run take care of things like that. Why I don't do the Retail now because I have to be there not what I want to do. Vet is fun but since it can't actually be my job making me work all day and night I really am glad that it will run without me like the restaurants do.

It would honestly have been very strange if you couldn't simply rent from an NPC, considering the actual rent mechanic was introduced in City Living (pretty sure it was that pack). For Rent pretty much is just about being the landlord yourself, and I suppose giving us more pre-built apartments and the ability to build them at all (which is great. I used to use apartments in TS2 all the time for some of my families with too much money because rent is a wonderful money sink).

You can also have a wealthy Sim (I used Eric Lewis) purchase a Residential Rental property, completely ignore him after that, and move your Sim into that property or one of the apartments in it.

When there's an issue at the property, Eric will come over to deal with it. Sometimes Alice. I just prefer the familiar faces over randomly generated sims.
