Help with Rival

My sim has a work rival. She is on the cusp of maxing her profession. (Culinary) but the rival is an issue as it blocks advancement. But I can't "Befriend" or "Sabotage" the dude. The option isn't there. Os this big or am missing something because its really frustrating.

omg I think I have a similar bug, she has been befriending him for like two sim weeks and nothing has changed!

At least you can try to do that. I get no options to befriend or sabotage on any menu. It's ridiculous since my sim has only one promotion to get to max out her career.

I caved and used a cheat to promote her. (heck, she would have gotten the promotion if not for this glitch). Funny, the rival is still there, though.

I'm beginning to think this is a glitch with the culinary career (or just a weird coincidence). The only one of my Sims who ever had a rival is the one in the culinary career, and it took forever to resolve that. I think she ended up sabotaging the other Sim, not sure how, though. I think maybe via the menu you get when you click on your Sim's portrait while they're at work? 🤔And IIRC, she had to do that a couple of times until the other Sim just gave up and got out of her way.

I've just googled the problem and it seems people have come up with very creative solutions, like inviting the rival over to their house and cause an "accident", or visit them at home and beat them up

I had that, I keep calling and talking to him, finally after x amount of call he gt out of the red and agreed to come over. made it so the friendship is acceptable not great but limit and that was over. if this didn't work I was planning to set him on fire, but didn't need to go that route.(when taking to him on the phone use the conversation talk about interest or get to know )
