Latest update has completely broken my game - cannot travel or go to manage worlds

The game just hangs on the loading screen on both saves tested.

Mods removed before the game was opened. Localthumbcache deleted.

The save I played yesterday was fine and working, so it's the expansion that is the issue. Other than refunding, is there anything else I can do?

Mine will not work either after the update, why it had to update is beyond me, I have no intention of getting the expansion, all the update did was break my game that also worked yesterday, all mods removed, uninstall, install, basic vanilla clean game, nothing loads, no game!.

Have you tried it without mods?. If it's something relating to the forthcoming expansion pack (whether you have it or not), you may have to wait for a bug fix.

I was not aware that there was going to be the update today. So much going on in rl and guess I missed it. I just spent days getting my mods updated and orderly . Had and appointment and just got through looking up new mods things and some world stuff..,open ed Steam only to find there was and update:( so many wasted hours. /sigh. Going to try and get in /crossing fingers, toes and anything else

You must have clicked on 'update' in the ea app menu to install the latest update (unless it somehow updated while you were playing the game).Always empty the mods folder before accepting the update (move the mods to somewhere safe outside the mods folder), then run the game (without mods) to see if it's working okay. Exit the game, restore the mods to the mods folder and run it again. If it's not running okay then one (or more) of your mods is clashing with the update and you will have remove or add mods to work out which one(s) are causing the problem.

As I said in the original post, mods removed before the update, cache files deleted and files verified.

The save will open, but any attempt to leave the home lot hangs on the loading screen and means that I can only close the game from outside. (Doesn't CTD but may as well have as there is no way of getting off the lot)

Looks like I will have to refund the expansion to get my saves back. A shame, as I was looking forward to this one, but I have too much time in my saves to restart with those families.
