The Sims™ 4

The Sims™ 4

I don't understand playing with mods cc etc on The sims 4
HI! I need advice before playing the sims 4. Before I asking in here, I already installed some (many) mods, bcs I saw on youtube and google that you need to install mods etc to make the sims more enjoyable. But now I'm so afraid that I can be install wrong mods or install mods that contradicting each other that can make an erorr, crash or even can drop my laptop when I start playing on the app. It's already on the mods folder but I hasn't active the mods on the app yet cuz I'm still not sure. For info, I use Axioo MyBook Pro K5V with intel core i5, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 4 GB DDR6 as device to play the game. I install like among 1300+ mods (total items in folder mods contains 4.902 Files, 177 Folders with 23,9 GB size in total). It's not influence my laptop yet since my storage still has plenty of space. But please tell me if I do it wrong or I shouldn't do some thing. This is my first time playing game on laptop in years (I'm not into with games) so I don't understand many thing especially mods etc. I would really appreciate it if you could teach me and give me advice, thank you!

That is a lot of mods, and it's not about just disk space, but about the laptop's resources (CPU, RAM, GPU, etc).
Your specs are a bit one the mid-lower end (specially the RAM, 4 GB for Sims 4 plus 1300+ mods will make your laptop sweat).

I suggest deleting a few of the mods, however that means you'll probably have to delete save files as well, since so many mods have probably affected pretty much every single save file.

Or, you could check which mods are less invasive, and delete those (for example, furniture and clothes that you don't use anymore).
But yeah, that needs a bit of a cleanup.

As for compatibility, you should go for mods that have a full on explanation of what they do. Many mod creators will specify if their mod is compatible or not with other specific mods. If you have one that has something like "this mod is incompatible with this other mod", then you'll have to choose between one or the other.

And, always check the temperature on your laptop while playing. If you hear the fans spinning, or it gets too hot, turn off the game and let it cool down.

It's pretty basic - don't install random things, pick the mods you want - read through the descriptions and check for any possible conflicts with any other mods you are running or wanting to run.

Download from CurseForge or directly from mod authors. Pick mod authors that correctly update their mods when game updates when updates to their mods are required due to game changes.

TL;DR: pick mods carefully. Read things.

A lot of mods will bork you game. Some mods fix EA's errors. https://www.lms-mods.com/ Little Miss Sam fixes a lot of mod and has useful content.
The real bad mods are Trojans, you think it's a mod but its going to do something wicked to your computer or you. That's possible because EA uses languages like C# (sims 3) or Python (Sims 4) and the tools to do mischief are right there. They can open up internet connections to send data about what mod you have for your particular game version. Think what else they could share.

yeah that's the wrong approach to begin with (and not true, either). install and play the game without any mods first and if you must install one after the other and keep testing if it's still working. never all at once.

Thank you so much for the advice^^!
but I still don't understand some of few things, where can save files that I need to delete? Also, I'm on deleting most of the mods that you suggest, but I wanna know, since I have many of them, should I delete all the mods or not? is it bad if I'm not deleting all? is it okay if I just turn off mods relative on the App if I didn't want to delete all the mods that already installed?

I read the rules before installing them and read some guild on community but since I'm not familiar with it I'm not sure I fully understand :( especially with the mods there so much guild but I really confused what I need to install first since theres many suggestion (that's why i endup downloading many of them). For now, I little bit start to understand what is mods and what is CC and how it's somehow different from other mods that can make a different on the app. So I assume for mods that like decor, hairstyle, or pet is not a big problem if I delete/installing them I just need to see if the mods recuired to install cc or not.
But for mods that on category t.o.o.l, lot 51 core library, snbank or XML Injector etc I need extra careful before installing or deleting them bcs some of them are not compatible with the others. is it right? I still don't know for what they are honestly I just found those are some of most popular mods that ppl installed on curseForge (I use it btw) T^T

Can You tell me which what mods in here that I need to keep or I need to install again if I delete them for now;

- MC Command Center
- Smarter Self-Care
- Teen Jobs Collection
- Unlocked Apartment Shells

Hi, Thank you for the advice^^! I didn't knew before, I though install mods is a must before start to playing the sims that's why I installing mods first rather than play it plain. Since I already install Mods, should I uninstall the App if deleting all the mods didn't work?

Basics that can give you control over game and spice things up a little -

MCCC
Wicked Whims OR Wonderful Whims
Basemental Drugs
LittleMsSam mods - utility mods and bugfixes of all kinds
Bienchen mods - various autonomy control mods and bugfixes
XML Injector (for any mods requiring this)

After those add things as you find the need or desire for additional content and functionality.

May i suggest that you play the game first without mods to get an idea of what the game already offers. If after playing you feel the game is missing a certain play style and not too your liking, then take a look at some mods and what they can add to the game for you.

I always end up removing any mods after a while as i find them a pain and too much work to keep them updated. They break with each update and you then need to wait for the creator of the mod to update it before re-adding it back to your game.
So i just stick with cc (custom content, such as hairs/clothes/furniture ect).

Hi hi hello! Somewhat on-topic but where did you get your mods? What website? I see Curseforge but im gobsmacked bc I thought it was only a minecraft mod site??
Nyx Dec 16, 2024 @ 12:38am
I have been through so many attempts of trial/error on mods. I would definitly put them in folders but only 1 folder deep. Be selective on mods and check on the dates of the mod. If it hasn't been updated in over a year, It probably won't work and glitch the game.

Go to the mod creators site directly to get the most up to date version of the mods.
CurseForge is ok but you will still have to organize your mod folder.

Some good content creators for mods are

LittleMsSam
Sim Realist
Lot51

At least in my personal opinion only the MCCC mod (fixes some bugs but not all in addition to being fun to use) and mods that fix bugs (some mods from LittleMissSam and others) are important mods. The rest are more optional especially if owning more than only just basegame.
