Can't switch career branches

So I'm a completionist and assumed that I would be able to get the rewards at the top tier of a career branch, then swap back to get the other rewards. Should be easy right? Well apparently its impossible to swap career branches without an overpriced broken dlc or an outdated mod... So I guess im done with the sims.

If ANYONE has an idea for a fix that doesnt involve me bricking my game or buying overpriced dlc for what should be a base game feature, please share. It ruined my 100+ hour save game all because of an oversight in the game design.

Mods don’t break your game. MCCC is safe and can help you with this issue. You only need to read the documentation because you don’t need to use all package data which the download comes with it.

This was a design choice to release, if you don’t like it then you need to purchase an overpriced + broken DLC if you don’t want to use MCCC to fix it.

A design choice that was already in sims 3? don't see how that could add anything to the game, rather just made an excuse to sell dlc as ea is known for. As for the mod, I wasn't sure how much it changed the game by default when installed so was worried it would mess with my save, I did inevitably end up getting it but backed up my save to be sure.

I will say that this "design choice" was probably one of the biggest oversights ive found in this game, choice or not, it was terrible.
