The Sims™ 4

University... help?
My 2 teens siblings graduated early so i decided to enroll in the uni (along with mother, just why not the whole family?). Since i clearly don't know what am i doing as i never tried it before and it is completely different than Sims 3 uni, what would you advice to a person who is absolutely clueless about the thing he never even did irl? I took 4 core classes out of my ignorance and this is a time-managing hell. Half of my classes my sims have bad performance no matter how much courseworks and daily tasks i do, even taking notes doesn't help. Is it because i may have low skill in class i attending? If that is a case, i may return back to safe save i took before enrollment as this is no use...

Wth does any of the TS4 gameplay have to do with IRL? LOL. Just have your Sims take the exam and head off to whichever university they got admitted to.

Exams
Exams are every Friday of the week. So you have to keep your Grade up doing homework and studying daily, doing Presentations, writing research papers etc.

Research Paper
2nd to homework, this is the quickest class activity to complete. So get this started early and work on it until the paper quality is excellent or better

Grades
You can always email their instructor to see their grade (or use a mod that does this automatically)

Homework
When they get there, be sure they do their homework every day. Or if they're slacking off too much, they can buy & study a textbook from the school kiosk (located in one of the admin buildings across from the school statue).

Presentations
This class activity will take a bit longer like a sim day or two. Depending on how distracted and busy your sims are to work on their presentations. if your sims take a class that requires them to submit a presentation, then start them working on that ASAP on the first day of school. After a while working on this, when you click on the presentation board, you'll get a notification they can submit it as is. Or ask another Sim to listen to their presentation. Have them practice for a Sim. When your presentation quality is excellent or better, you should put it in your inventory and take it to class. Pick option "Do Presentation" or something like that. And your Sim should get full marks aka an A.

Online class study
Study class subjects online using the computer to bump your grade.

Also don't forget to involve your sims in Debate club or the robot extra curricular activities. These will signifcanlty build your sims Skill.
I know huh.
I don't play Uni anymore. Don't play babies either. Or bust the dust.
If I want to do Uni, I play sims 3. Babies? Same.

This is funny... because i'm 100% with you in this. Uni in Sims 3 is fun, even a lil challenging if you want to graduate with 2 more traits(with being the best in your fav group, i once was even 10 in all 3 groups, it was crazy), but it was really fun. Yep and kids. Way better kids raising. For me raising kids in Sims 4 is hell, as i love to perfect my sims in any way possible, that means zero childhood, just to do everything to only raise their child skills to max.

You know what? Sims 3 have almost every game aspect better than Sims 4, besides the graphic. And vampires. Now it looks like devs don't even play the game to try if their own codes work, that's why this game have TONS of bugs they have zero interest to fix, all they do is creating new content. If they stop creating the new content, it means the game losing their support. Bug fixing was always on the bottom of importance list.

Debate and research skill gives you a big advantage in doing homeworks starting from level 3 if I recall correctly. I usually up it before entering uni.

The lot trait "study place" (or whatever that called, the desciption should say that it boostes studieng) that is in the default uni library give as huge boost too. Reading speed boost lot trait (I think from spa day) can be combined with that and reading the textbooks. Lot traits that give boosts to separate skills are good too. You can add those traits to most of lots.

Actually levelling/using the skills you chosen to study gives boost.

Brainiacs uni club/society (Foxbury uni) gives a boost to ALL degrees during the meetings activities.
These clubs are not mandatory at all tho, if time is short prioritise studeing.

Next term take less classes.

Starting the term on saturday gives you time to headstart all assignments.

Asking aboiut your grades is better done by phone, not on PC - phone gives all grades at the same time (one action), PC needs an action performed for each cource grade.

Studying textbook is an off-the-grid analogue of doing some online studying, no need to do both (textbooks can be boosted by lot traits, I didn't test if upgrading your PC might help).

If getting food takes much of your time, place the university food station (like in the commons) right in the dorms so you could eat normal food (and not snacks) for free without changing lots.

But the most time saving tip is to actually live off campus - you'll then stop wasting time on running around from building to building and just go to a rabbit hole right from the edge of your lot.

Geez... that's alot of info. But i 'll add something. About food... or any need or moodlet. Being a spellcaster helps with time management like a charm. No need to work on your needs, just drink the potion and all needs are full. Food spell is also handy. Or movement through spell or by broom.
University in Sims 3 was more fun, but University in Sims 4 is more realistic.

Busting your buns juggling school and life and you're lucky to get a C? Sounds like my college years.

Or become a skeleton and beat the university with flying colours because no need for sleep

Makes me wonder who created the uni the way it is now. Because any job position after is a piece of cake compared to a 5-6 years of no life during uni for most people. What i heard it's a terror.

How can you do that? Is skeleton a secret life state a plantsim or mermaid was in Sims 3?

A relic from Selvadorado (vacation world) can have a "turn into a skeleton" effect.

Skills can also increase if your Sims attend a guest lecture after their regular lectures. What worked best for the three Sims I put through college so far: I decided what they would study rather early, I think when they started High School, so I made sure they would level up the corresponding skills. One of them was really good at playing the violin when she enrolled at Britechester to study art, her younger brother was an excellent gardener when he took up biology, and the oldest always had a knack for tech.

And like Ilthe said: live off campus. My first two Sim students lived on campus because I wanted to try the corresponding gameplay. There isn't much, although dorm parties can be fun as well as other on campus activities. But you waste so much time on getting to class, it's not even funny. Even when your Sim leaves early enough, he or she might idle outside the building and be late anyway. The third Sim kid I put through college lived at home. Poor guy didn't get to experience the fun of dorm life, but ah well. Can't have it all :)

LMAO. 100% all of what you both said. TS3 is clearly the last Sims franchise that got playing Uni RIGHT. They didn't make it a painful chore of a bloody migraine.

IMHO the whole Uni experience for my Sims is equivalent to giving birth to QUADRUPLETS all at the same time. Then getting 2 aspirin for the pain and all your trouble after the event.

Heck you can't even tell the Campus buildings apart in TS4. They're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ identical with zero pie menu popups like in TS3. It's almost as though the TS4 dev team saw the identical rabbit holes in TS3 Lunar Landing world. And asked themselves how they could creatively troll Simmers sanity in making TS4 Uni buildings. LOL.

So you have to hope the trigger which pushes your Sims to class is STILL WORKING so they can get to class on time. If not and/or it's broken, then your'e FUBAR.

By nature, TS4 is too woke progressive/politically correct and insanely grindy to be of much fun. So it's no surprise that Uni gameplay is the same mindless grind. Basically do X things Y times until your Sim achieves Z accomplishment/reward.

None of TS4 game play is as spontaneous or immersive as TS1 to TS3 used to be. :(

Not that any of the lunacy going down with the Legacy release of TS1 or TS2 has any impact on my disillusioned mood to date. With the still broken state these 2 legacy games were re-released in, the death of TS5 and the eternal broke a$s purgatory that is TS4, the Sims is now a dead franchise. And I've sadly moved on.

Currently preloading KCD 2 atm. And still on standby for INZOI later this year.

Being a spellcaster helps GREATLY. Potion for need filling is a great cheat for harshest uni conditions. Or if people don't like being spellcaster, there is still gemology... one jewel of particular stone have the power of reversing the need loss, but it only last 2 days before it need to recharge and there is no way to enter building mode on uni, so... And there is also broom or transportalate spell. With that the sim is never late. :)

It's really a shame where this franchise aiming... Maxis became too cocky, or maybe they just want to close door behind Sims overall. Releasing the legacy is a good move for simps, but i don't think i will buy it. They did nothing other than conform the games for today's pcs, it's a desperate money milking before closing the door behind the franchise completely.
