Sims keep leaving food and trash on the floor in University

I've tried googling this and I get the usual unhelpful answers from EA support and even Reddit, since most of them were unrelated or just full of people saying Nothing Burger like "I have this problem" and nothing more.

Anyone know of a fix or a mod for this? I'm so tired needing to take every single plate of food that just appears on the balcony for no reason, other than to just sit there and nobody eating it. None of them are even above normal quality either.
