When exactly come these Sims 4 smarter sims? I think my game is bugged; I don’t have them.
I don't think they have, but that's how EA advertised the launch of TS4... Smarter Sims lol
If we pretend early Sims games never existed then they are right. I still think Sims 3 had the smarter Sims, at least you could spot more difference in the autonomy behavior. Sims 4 only get points for multitasking.
That, and TS4 sims cleverly avoid cowplants.. alas, it had to be the perfect townie killer. As much as I'd consider them 'smart', that's about the extent of 4's 'smarter sims'.
I couldn't imagine this game would even function if EA goes on with 4 much longer, no less a decade more +. It's already bloated with so much DLC if you own them all or mostly all.
Well... If I'm asked, they're dumb as sh*t. Sorry.
I would rather The SIms 5 be made as an officially seperate game than The Sims 4 make dlc for 2 or 3 decades because of what you mentioned, but the problem is EA does not seem to agree, EA does not want to abandon The Sims 4 probably because of basegame being free to play, and does not want to take any risks in making The SIms 5 official despite them being a billion dollar industry. Maybe they are afraid that The SIms 5 will not be liked as much The Sims 4 meaning less money for them and that would help explain why Project Rene is not The Sims 5, but if The Sims 4 can continue to make dlc for 10+ years then so could The SIms 5. The only catch is that it may not be a good idea to have both The Sims 4 and a future Sims 5 game (but not Project Rene) installed at the same time, because they both probably would use up a lot of storage space from dlc.
I think they will stop soon with DLC and focus on even smaller stuff for an online shop. At least that's the idea I got when their PR announced all the info around PR and "The Sims Hub". They do have a maximum charge for the smallest of work philosophy, so I wouldn't be surprised with a change of how we are "served" "content".
"Watches his sim stomp around a mud puddle then fall on his backside"
Ah, yes, "smarter" 😂
Maybe online shop plus continuing to make kit packs before EA eventually stops making kit packs as well, but The SIms 4 does not really need anymore expansion packs, gamepacks, kit packs, and stuff packs at this point. I am perfectly fine actually if Life & Death were to be the last expansion pack with The SIms 4. The biggest problems with expansion packs and gamepacks especially is that they use up too much storage space if owning every single one of them and various other potential issues when owning every expansion pack and gamepack as well, but if EA stops making expansion packs and gamepacks they will probably stop making stuff packs as well meaning possibly only just kit packs for a while before EA eventually stops making them as well. My theory is that perhaps when Project Rene comes out officially The SIms 4 will not be making anymore expansion packs, gamepacks, or stuff packs, but might continue to make kit packs for a while longer (but unclear as to "how long") before they eventually stop making them as well.

Multiplayer just doesn't work with sims games and for some reason EA doesn't want to accept that fact. It's incompatible with what is solely a single player experience not meant to be shared irrespective of what a few users who desire coop and multiplayer dream of.
Who knows, one day another game developer/publisher might be able to put one together, i'm not saying it's impossible, but as it is, it's just not worth the effort to to keep repeating those same mistakes and EA is having a lot of trouble trying to understand they can't have everything their own way and the world doesn't work like that.
Now it's possible while Project Rene went down, the developers could pull out all the multiplayer aspects out of it and rebuild the core systems as a purely single player game, at least salvage something from it, but it's going to be costly regardless however they handle it.
TS4 isn't going to last forever, EA still has the niche cornered, they can still set things how they like and i can't see EA giving up on this market that has given them billions in profits over the years. I expect to see a TS5 at some point, just not right now.
