co-op and not multiplayer

I don't understand how EA can fail so much, seriously all I wanted was a co-op mode (not multiplayer) just a LAN mode or something similar, it could even be like the sims on the shared screen console, but no EA insists on MMO multiplayer modes, I hope that a SIMS 5 or update in sims 4 can one day bring a real co-op mode so I can play with my friends and family.

There is a mod for multiplayer if you do a search. Technically, it's co-op. As far as I am aware, each person must have the same DLCs and the game updated to the latest version. I have no interest in it, but from what I am aware of, it is rather janky and has a few connectivity issues as well.

Sadly there wont be a Sims 5 :( but there is Project Rene that's the a side game still in the Sims universe and will feature on Coop/Multiplayer :)

Im not entirely sure what Project Rene has in store. Im not sure if it's multiplayer or coop, or both or something we can exclusively do with friends but Im open to hear what it has to offer before I jump to conclusions :)

The mod won't force you to play with random people. It allows you to play with family and friends, As I have said, I've never used it, but from what I'm told it does work reasonably well.

Maybe in 5-10 years, they might add something similar to the Sims Console Co-Op modes (players can each control a Sim in a family, as long as there are at least 2 Sims. If the number drops down to 1 only player 1 can control the Sim. Travel is also affected; whenever Player 1's Sim goes to a different lot, Player 2's Sim follows (unless they're at work) and vice-versa)

Keep in mind, it took them how long to add burglars, which were launch features in the other Sims games.
Not to mention the latest add-on Business and Hobbies is pretty much the 2nd half of The Sims 2: Open Business, which launched back in 2006.
Maxis has just been chopping up old expansions and slow rolling them out for full price nowadays.
Like why didn't Life & Death include Zombie Sims? I'm sure we'll see a Zombie Content Pack or Expansion in the future, that's just Zombie Occult life-style, so they can squeeze another $20-40 outta the diehard Simmers.

Unfortunately I have to agree, it's a shame to see this happen to a franchise that I saw grow up and was part of my childhood.

The Sims 4 multiplayer mod does work, but it sucks. You can't have two or more instances where you travel to other lots to meet other players. You play on one lot, and other players take control of one sim in one family. If you want to travel to other lots, the whole family has to go with you.

It's basically nothing, but the two-player splitscreen mode from the console Sims games from PS2 and Gamecube. Just without the splitscreen. If you enjoy that, that's good. But I personally grew bored of it years ago.

Does it work? I've heard that it's kind of buggy and problematic, I would clearly prefer a well-made co-op mode but to be honest playing split screen would be better than nothing, coming from EA unfortunately you can't expect much.

I didn't encounter much bugs or problems. But that's mainly because Sims 4 itself is full of bugs and problems, so I don't think it's the multiplayer mod's fault. Also it's not splitscreen. I just said it plays like the splitscreen mode from the console games, but without splitscreen.
