They are only considered the best when they first came out. I used to enjoy The SIms 3, but now I hardly ever play it anymore such as for example I used to have access to dlc and Sims 3 store content, but now I cannot use them anymore after I had to start a new account due to my older account failing to get past the launcher from an error. For example, when I tried to spend money on Seasons again for a second time because of me starting a new account to make The SIms 3 launch again properly it would refuse to install regardless of whether I purchased from EA App or Steam meaning that with The SIms 3 I am forced to be stuck with only just basegame, mods, and cc which is the bare minimum instead of me being allowed to experience the full game again.

So? Lists like these are always subjective to a degree, and this one derives from articles and lists published in game magazines, and no matter how objective a game journalist strives to be, it does boil down to personal taste. Also, that list focuses heavily on action-related games - role-playing games, shooters, strategy, action adventures as well as platform games. It hardly features any adventures aside from the Lucas Arts classics, yet people playing point and click adventures will tell you that the first Broken Sword, the Gabriel Knight series and King's Quest should be on that list as well - especially since the 1990s are still considered to have been something like the golden age of adventures. Sierra's games are almost completely missing from that list except for Half-Life and Homeworld even though they made tons of adventures and simulations like Caesar and Pharao.

In other words, the fact that Sims 4 is not on that list isn't necessarily "proof" it's a bad game simply because so many other games are missing as well, but that doesn't mean those games are bad. For some reason, they just didn't make the list which, in my opinion, isn't representative to begin with since it ignores huge chunks of whole genres.

Not to mention as well that I personally think that The SIms 4 is much better right now than it was from 2014. It is obvious that The Sims 4 needed a lot of work when it first came out, but even though I did not play The SIms 4 until 2022 that was not long after neighborhood stories was added to basegame to make it feel less like a "sandbox game" that still does not dismiss the fact I would agree The SIms 4 is much better off right now than it was when it first came out.

Well, first - does anyone expect TS4 to be considered the best in whatever category you can think of? It isn't even the best at being bad or expensive. I am happy that is not included in the list, but also indifferent because all the magazines that contributed to that list were paid by game publishers to promote some select titles. Who cares about their corrupt picks.

I also don't care about what Rolling Stones has to say about games. Guitars and drumsticks, maybe, but about games? Nah. The worst on the list is IGN tho. :ShooterCucumber: IGN

That's a good point. Why cite a magazine that's targeting a completely different audience? I find including USA Today/Sports Illustrated quite hilarious, too. Or GQ. None of these are associated with gaming and not exactly the first sources that come to mind when thinking about rankings of games.
