The Sims™ 4

How to disable updates permanently?
Hi. I would like to know how to make my Sims game remain in its current version for the next hundred years.

I've disabled automatic Steam updates and tried to launch it directly from the folders, however it updated anyway. Any help?

I'm not sure if there are mods for it, if it's even possible.
But as far as I now you can't play without the latest updates. As soon as you start the game it updates. That's how it's meant to be. (And I hate it, too.)

Heck. I hate to update mods each time they decide to add yet another 40 dollars DLC.
The easiest and fastest way that I know is to go offline...
Open Steam. If you're on a PC, in the toolbar at the top of the screen, select "Steam." If you're using a Mac, select "Account." Select "Go Offline."
Or you can try to limit the download speed to a minimum in the settings.
After that, you can play without worrying about updates

Thanks I will try that, but won't the EA app also try to update the game?

Yes, unfortunately.
You need to disable the update in the EA app too.
Settings -> Download -> Automatic Game Updates

Thanks. Hopefully this will stop the evil EA from breaking the game further.
I donno. IF EA app can't start and contact the mothership, it won't let you play.
And it's all because of pirates.

No, it's all so they can announce all their new DLC when you launch the game. You think this game can't be pirated? Pfft.
I do this but only to let me wait for mods to catch up to updates. If you make a copy of your installation folder to somewhere else, you can over-write the updated install folder every time they update and that's it you're playing the old version still. You may have to nuke the version file in the Sims My Documents folder too if you accidentally launch the game before you overwrite but that's it.

Effectively frozen on that version until I choose to update and I can stay with the client online and access to the gallery etc. Just be aware that actions like telling steam to verify the install folder will undo things too.

What you can do is well, get the alternate version of this game, cough cough, and it wont update then 100% xD Doesnt even require a launcher ;p
This is ridiculous... so I buy the game but I can't use mods because of EA/Steam. Veeeeeery good.

You can still use mods, you only need to update them. Most patches don’t break mods. Normally only the big one breaks mods and these are the patches which prepare the base game for a new EP.

As long you use popular mods you don’t even need to wait long for an update.
