I downloaded EA games and now it runs
https://www.ea.com/ea-app
https://www.bing.com/search?q=sims+4+will+not+launch&form=MSNSB1&refig=52ddf5eca0464282d00cb1993b381819&mkt=en-gb
There is going to be an update today, so that will complicate things. Move your mods out first before you do the update. The 'event' will continue soon as well so that will further complicate things (might be better to do that before restoring your mods back to documents).
Kill it. Squash it. delete it. It's nothing but trouble and a scam to get your money.
Daughter had the same problem on her puter with Sims 3. Well known problem with the EA troubleshooter guys. The game can't open a save file, so it crashes.
If you are on windows, open 'task manager' and if there any instances of Sims 4 or the EA app running, end task for them, see if that makes a difference.
The ea background service is running according to services, but according to the taskmanager its not running
any ideas?
Nevermind.
