I can precisely remember the state of mind that unleashes that kind of satire
When they came out, many players complained that they don't want free ear buds.
EA mocked this in the loading screen with this message about not wanting free ear buttss... er, buds.
Much of the music has significantly improved since then. I kinda like the free ear buds and buy them for my other sims.
They can be so edgy with us, right?
But I also love that sims get those free buds. You and your sims don't have to listen to Maxis' tracks, either. Players can add tracks they like into the game (which I do because music is as essential as the air I breathe). I'll even purchase buds if my sims don't get them free, but mine all end up Music Lovers. Buds come with the trait, eventually if not instantly. I just sell double sets.
Even so, I've never understood that complaint for the sole reason that ear buds don't mess up your game at all. Much as it amuses me, I guess Maxis needn't waste time mocking its community. Fair. Time's better spent on fixing things which actually do mess up the game.
