They have a lot of other... less fun... games.

…. mobile narrative games and continued depth, improvements, and modernization of The Sims 4, which will continue to be a foundational Sims experience.
…
That creates an opportunity for Market Entry, where the profits exceed the non recurring cost of a start up; Inzoi and the late "Life By You" are the product of this market entry. By expanding their market appeal with a less niche market and selling at the higher prices that are competitive with the sims, they can get a good return on the non recurring development cost. Then when the non recurring investment is captured, they can lower the prices and drive EA off the market.
But there might be something behind the scene, like litigation on the intellectual property rights. I suspect that is why Paradox shut down "Life By You" and didn't release the beta.
The word "Never" is such a strong word even with basegame of The Sims 4 being free to play. Is The Sims 4 still going to make dlc 20+ years from now? That would be the year 2044 and The Sims 4 would be a very old game by then that would perhaps have way too much dlc at that point as well if The Sims 4 continues to make dlc for that long.
A 10 year old game may not be considered old to some people, but a 30 year old game is very old. Thirty years old is still young for a human, but 30 years old is very old for PC, mobile, and console games. The first Sims game for example will be turning 30 years old on February 4th for PC starting the year 2030.
Idk who they earn the money from but I can tell ya it isn’t from me. I am doing my hard work of voting with my wallet.
Sometimes the cake isn’t a lie. Maybe if more people were into pastry we would have sims 5 long ago. As such I encourage everyone to focus on the empty calories.
Then some people say but you will get fat and it’s disgusting. I say stuff yourself all you want it’s just matrix cake. It isn’t real anyway.
Nowadays people will eat real corporate dirt instead of fake digital cake and then complain of capitalism constipation.
