Yes, the ea app is absolute garbage. You can't fix it, ea doesn't care about their app, they just want your money.

It's the same for all of us, not only this game either - my other EA games do the same. It's not about your PC. It's always been like this. I hate EA.
Not gonna lie.. I feel like ea app was made by some monkeys addicted to alcohol

In the last 3 weeks I had to reinstall ea app for at least 10 times, uninstall and reinstall the sims 4 once and fix the game via steam because the game just wouldn't download needed files (I suspect the damn christmas season quest thing being the issue) every time I wanted to play.
The frustration is so real..

The app helps prevents piracy, simple as. If Sims players were honest, the app wouldn't be so diligent. Sims 3 was one of the 10 most pirated games ever. Something about the sims attracts pirates. The EA app is a step up from Origin in IP protection.
so report pirates
if you support pirates because of the high product cost, remember it is more expensive to staff EA because of their DEI hiring practices Some of which are so odious I was banned once for mentioning it. If you support Diversity, then support the quality of people that EA hires which requires a larger salary budget than an ebil non-DEI staff.
I love the Sims 4. I don't buy every dLC tho' because some of them I don't think I'd ever play. EA app is a pain, but it works okay if you update the EA App when it needs to be updated, and make sure it stops when the game crashes because of your buggy mods.

The EA app's crashing has nothing to do with mods or anything else, it's not only a Sims issue either. Their app is just bad. Idc if it prevents piracy or not, they have to fix the app in any case.

Buggy mods, as I explained, can bork the game by leaving the locks for a game running. A smooth shut down avoids this.
So, you're game is running and the game crashes to desktop because the "Hamster Passion" mod is buggy. Okay, so next time you start the game, EA app looks at Sims 4 in your home directory and finds the game is still running because all the locks, caches etc is still there. EA App doesn't start the game, because it's already running according to the indicators in your home directory. They do this to prevent pirates sharing their game.
EA looks at the losses due to pirates and the losses due to lack of sales due to EA app, and decided EA App was the way to go. Don't like EA's decision? tough toenails.

The buggy mods can cause crashes but it doesn't have anything to do with our problem here. This app crashes no matter what you do, it crashes solely for existing. It crashes when you don't have any mods whatsoever. And yes I do dislike EA's decision on not fixing their damn thing. If it's their bread and butter, it's all the more reasons to fix it. There are a lot of people who refuse to buy EA games on Steam because they don't want to deal with the EA app too. Their loss in sales due to piracy doesn't interest me, I'm an end user, I just want the thing fixed or removed or replaced with something that actually works.
