Check if your EA APP runs with windows start. If yes go under Settings in EA APP -> Application -> disable *Open the EA app automatically on startup* -> disable *Enable Background service* -> Notifications -> remove the tick under sales -> disable in-game overlay if you use Steam overlay (they fixed the bug that you need to have both enabled to get access to Steam overlay)

No answer to your other issue, I don’t really play Sims 4 anymore, so I don’t know the state of the actually issues or mods which fixes issues for this game. Maybe another user can answer you that.

my EA app has been wacking out since last year so idk really if that will mess other things up. I wont really mess with it until i fix the other things

also i think there was some confusion in here so to clear that i meant pop ups like advertisements adverting the game but not related to the game overlay.

EA APP will advertise their sales if you don’t start the game up. That means if you just surf the web. EA APP overlay will be adversity too if you run their game and don’t disable the notification. If you don’t want to touch them then you need to live with it.

There is a mod which removes the shopping cart, if you mean this ads. If you talk about the startup ads, I have bad news for you. It seems they want to replace the default loading screens too with ads. There is at the moment no way to remove it, maybe somebody created a mod for it, but it seems rather that they will give you more ads in near future.

well i will have to live with it. life is not allways i win, win. and the ads arent just on start up, theire poping up randomly even when i cloased the app. it has only hapened a few times so far but a gut feeling tells me that were nearing a poit where there will be advertisements on my desktop 24/7 and there will be no way of escapeing the corporate greed of more and more powerfull companies treating me as a money generator.

They give you the option to disable it, it is your problem if you don’t want to do that. Companies will always toggle all on and hope for customers that they are just too lazy to toggle it off. Yeah, this should not be the way but at least they still give you the option. So if you desktop is full of ads then this is your own decision. Of course in game advertising is something different, but nobody get forced to play a game.

I am sorry if I wrote this a little offensively. I have sometimes terrible habits of writing things the wrong way that people feel attacked. I don’t want that. We all agree that most companies are not good to their customers, especially EA has a bad reputation if it goes about that.

I hope you can fix it the way if it suits you. We really should not get bombarded with ads. It has a reason why Adblocker got so popular.

it is totaly okay that you wrote things that way, it is really hard to comunicate emotions and intent through text alone. I am glad we came to a understanding. have a nice day :)
