Any way to store sims?
I have a sim that I don't want to play at the moment but I don't want him to wander on his own and eventually die. Is there a way to store him and reinstate him at a later time?

1) You can save him to your library, I'm not sure if this will store just the appearance at their current age or also the progression. Simology/ Enter Create a Sim/ Save Household. Then you should be able to use him later from your Gallery. Double check that he appears there as mine doesn't seem to be consistent.

2) You can go into the options and change whether non-played sim households progress in age.

3) If you're present when he passes you may have the option for him to become a playable ghost.

4) You can get DLC or potentially mods to prevent perma death.

Yep, library will store progression (skills, job, etc).

Edit: has to be done with Manage Worlds and then save them there, otherwise it doesn't stick.

Where's the option to store? I've tried before but they wouldn't show up.

In CAS, upper right corner, to the left of the light bulb is a folder icon with a down arrow. Saves to your own gallery.
If you save them midgame, they keep their skills but it empties their inventory, breaks their relationships outside the played household, but sometimes keeps their money.
You can save him in your library but he be the current of all stats and stuff but not relationships on save. You can strip him of all them on restart of new story with him. I have made an stored my sim as start of type of him basic skills and then one with all traits so when start a new game I can do either way with that sim

oh okay! thanks, I'll look for that option.
I just
~testingcheats on
Click a sim in the household I want to save,
go to "edit in cas"
And save the sim.
This last update seems to have added a lot of new homeless sims that aren't complete "pudding faces", sims generated randomly that look aweful.
Top right theres a button with a folder where you can store the Sim. It saves everything: appearance, skills, traits, money... Everything directly related to it that is. It doesn't save posesions.

Go to a mirror to "Plan outfits" and you can enter the menu.
Sul Sul! You can save your Sim or household to your Library by going to Manage Worlds and opening Manage Households. Select the household, click Edit, Add or Remove Sims from the household in Create a Sim, then choose the Save Household button in the top-right corner of the screen. This will save a copy of the household to your Library, allowing you to place them back into a world whenever you'd like!

okay thanks for the info on what library is meant to do.

In manage worlds it does save them to that game, but it doesn't save them to the gallery. So I still can't use them in another game.

Hi this currently doesn't work. There is an old unresolved bug report here, reporting issues with both saving and searching:

Another game on the same machine or what exactly do you want to do?

Oh no! Are you currently using any mods or custom content in your game? If so, please remove them and test the game without them. Also feel free to upvote and/or add your own case to the report as that is helpful.
