customers wont enter my small business at home

so my sim lives with her husband in a small apartment in san myshuno and i set up a tattoo shop in one of the rooms.

at first i opened the business and no customers came in until i realized they were all waiting in the street in front of the building, so i had to take my sim down there and greet them for them to come up to my floor.

problem is after that they stay in front of my apartment door and simply do not come in. i tried moving the conversation inside but it didnt work, also when i offer them a tattoo they try to walk and then act as if soemthing is blocking their way, the little balloon with the steps and the red X show up and they get upset.

the doors are all unlocked and there's no furniture or anything like that that could block them, because my sim walks in and out of the tattoo shop freely. i just cant seem to get the customers inside my house and then after a while they get angry and leave.

Did you set the room in build mode to be separate from your home? It should have a red border around the room/s you want public.
