Yes I already have cats and dogs, all of the packs I listed are packs I don't have yet already and deciding between them. I basically have all the packs, besides the ones I listed.
Expansions:
Horse ranch is similar enough to Cottage living but with a Wild West theme, they go well together. University is often not looked well upon, most activities are just rabbit holes and studying. It's probably the "riskiest" one of the three to buy unless you *really* want it. Eco Lifestyle is highly regarded, it's very "hippie" themed and adds game play around utilities such as generating power and water. Pollution is also a thing in world that comes with the Eco pack, but that's generally shallow and only enjoyable for one play through. The other thing it adds is the ability to vote on action plans (make sure to turn off AI voting or they will do something like enable literal Communism where sims will just steal your ♥♥♥♥ and unique items from community lots.) most of these are woefully unimpressive though.
Packs:
Strangerville is story driven, you'll get a few hours of playing through it and it's great. Werewolves has one of the best asthetics/worlds according to many players and playing as a werewolf isn't terrible (not great either). Personally i'd do Werewolves here as i feel it has more longevity and the world is great to build in.
Stuff:
First pet is generally regarded as being a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pack, and i have to agree. Unless you *really* want a hamster (which can and will kill your sims sometimes) or some other items it includes then i'd avoid it like the plague.
Bowling does what it says but be aware that you can't make a bowling alley as bowling lanes can only be placed on residential lots for some God forsaken reason. If they'd given us a bowling alley lane type it would have been much better received. The items in it are good they just can't be used in the way you probably want to. But, as a disclaimer here you *might* be able to make a small business (Businesses and Hobbies) with a functional bowling alley, though i haven't verified it.
Kids stuff has some activities for kids (which the age sorely needs), if you have a lot of kids and want to give them anything more to do this is a good pick.
Spooky stuff is basically pointless, especially if you have seasons; it adds costume parties (for all intents and purposes just a Halloween party). There's really nothing special about it.
Movie Stuff essentially does the same thing as Spooky stuff by adding a "home cinema" (again, this isn't really anything that a TV and the "watch together" option can't do for you. It also adds a popcorn maker that sims will compulsively use every time you give them freewill for zero reason whatsoever.
As one last note if you *ever* consider getting For Rent please just *don't*. It will eventually corrupt your save.
This was so helpful! Thank you!
I heard it has a lot of bugs so I didn't list it as one of the choices D: what about it do you like?
I mean people have to be really stupid to waste their money like this. :D
In return Sims 4 is on the technical level playable without any mods and has IMPORTANT a already build in fps limit + is a 64-bit application. Of course it has a ton of bugs but the playable status is still a lot better and smoother than Sims 3 without any mods. Just remember Sims 4 has still not reached the price from Sims 3 store; Just because people pirated the hell out of it doesn’t make this store vanish: https://store.thesims3.com/ (They stopped giving away free sims points for watching ads)
Don’t call people stupid just because you can’t understand why some would rather invest money in Sims 4 than in Sims 3. The only thing that matters is that they enjoy it. Just because you prefer Sims 3 it doesn’t mean that the other person prefers it too. As example occults in Sims 4 are a lot better as in Sims 3. I even think horses are better than Sims 3 horses simply of the reason children can ride them.
I agree with this somehow but there is a difference. Sims 3 aimed for a whole new experience and demanded good hardware in this time which many people don’t had. Sims 4 was planned as an online/multiplayer game which got redesigned. The game was already planned differently on the technical side. You plan an online/multiplayer game differently as a single-player game. You still get LastUI reports from Olympus, which was the project name of it.
Honestly, if you want a huge open world your best bet is to hope InZOI has success. Paralive already conformed they will not have a big open world and rather aim for a small open world. EA confirmed they want to stick with Sims 4 but not because they think of the people and don’t want that they need to start fresh. This is just PR speaking. It goes about money, and development another Sims title is just not lucrative for them. Sims 4 is their golden cow, we all know this.
I have the whole collection of sims 3, I can't play it. The building is just too slow, the graphics are too outdated for me, the animations are too outdated and clunky for me, I didn't care much for the driving or open world tbh, I never really leave the house when playing sims.
This is really my biggest gripe about the pack - that the main feature is such a hit and miss event thanks to all those bugs. Still, there are a few things I enjoy very much:
- Tartosa is gorgeous. It has a very Italian Riviera vibe, your Sims can shop for wedding cakes, gowns, flowers, there's a beautiful lounge for romantic dates, and there's also a vacation rental. It's pretty much the perfect romantic getaway.
- Build/buy and CaS are beautiful. I think many of the build/buy items work rather well with the Romantic Garden kit, and there are items like the champagne bucket or tea set that you can use outside weddings, too. CaS has beautiful gowns (including saris resp a few with an oriental look) and suits that can be used as evening attire thanks to many swatches; there are wedding and engagement rings as well as new hairstyles. I use the CaS stuff a lot because thanks to all those swatches, it's not tied to having an actual wedding.
- In terms of gameplay, there's actually quite a lot to do. My last bride had a legendary bachelorette party with her friends (the groom's party was a bit boring by comparison). Also, the proposal was super-cute. There are a few more things you can do, like a party to celebrate the engagement or a rehearsal dinner, but I haven't tested those yet. For the actual wedding, you can choose a dress code (that one worked fine for my last wedding), appointing flower children and wedding witnesses works somewhat, too (them not doing what they are supposed to do is a different story...), so does shopping at the shops in Tartosa.
Long story short, the pack has a lot to offer even though it's still terribly buggy. That's why I waited until it was discounted before buying it, and while I use build/buy and especially Cas a lot, I haven't really explored the gameplay all that much, aside from bachelor parties and weddings. If you consider getting it, do so at a discount or when it's part of a bundle :)
