Try the accepted solution, maybe this fix it.
p.s if you want the event to work remove accountDataDB.package file, but it wont work forever cuz mine re-broke, i dont use any mods either
With all due respect, James, how are Sims players supposed to magically know all of the rules and restrictions EA has imposed on this event when we weren't told anything beyond "Business as usual! Do the quest and enjoy your items!"?
The quest popped up when I was in San Myshuno and I couldn't grow an apple or cherry tree in my apartment's living room. So I switched to my Conservationist Sim in Windenberg.
Everything seemed to work until I read the Ambrosia Newsletter. Then the quest vanished. Poof!
The quest randomly starts at some arbitrary time and location. They could have based it in Willow Creek or some base game location. Don't be in a residential rental. Don't be in an apartment in San Myshuno. Don't switch Sims. Don't have mods installed. Plus Much Much More!
Now what would you pay? Apparently over 1200 Canadian dollars in my case.
It would be nice if EA mentioned all of that beforehand, but EA - the King of Battle Passes and Loot Boxes - didn't even have a clue how - or even if - this was going to work. They should have taken it for granted that it it wouldn't work. Just like everything else they've done with this game.
EA needs to fix this issue as quickly as possible before this event ends which I think is the main point across. It should be embarrassing for them to have this event be broken for some people and I am not necessarily trying to defend EA in every way, but good thing there is an option for completing this event for free instead of it being locked behind a paywall and there are various other ways to get most of this stuff besides the new lot trait from custom content (cc) or perhaps by downloading from the gallery even if you do not have them unlocked yet. While I did not experience any bugs preventing me from completing week 1 unfortunately this event is broken for some people as well. It is also unclear what I am supposed to do for week 2 such as continuing from my newest saved game or starting another new game just for week 2 and hope that it does not break for me so that way I can proceed to week 3.
"Start a new household in a new save in Willow Creek, Oasis Springs, or Newcrest for the purposes of this event." Something along those lines.
I'm going to re-install American Truck Simulator this Saturday. Buy a couple of States I'm missing. Then I'm just going to drive my truck in a game that actually works and leave EA in my rear-view mirror.
I've been buying EA products since Music Construction Set for my old Atari 800XL in the early 1980s. Over 40 years ago. The last EA product I'll ever buy was the Cozy Bistro kit. I'm done. Everything since "werewolves" has been a broken, unfunny joke.
Either that or I'll just install Wicked Whims and literally say "♥♥♥♥ it".
I generally agree that it should work without issue, as long people don’t use mods. There even reports from players which never used mods or play on console, and this should definitely not happen with this kind of *Battle-Pass*.
I'm a rotational player, with seven households at the moment, and I really want to stick to my rotational gameplay for the next weeks instead of playing just one household because otherwise, the event might be messed up. People over on the EA forums said that you can switch between households for this, at least for every week of the event, but I guess I'll just wait and see before switching back and forth. I really don't need more bugs after that annoying Lovestruck thing has made a reappearance yesterday - the one that empties the romance bar and makes your Sims work hard on romantic satisfaction. I thought I had gotten rid of that but apparently, it pops back up after you haven't played with that household in a while 🙄 Fixiing this was btw a lot more work than doing the tasks for Grim.

Then again, EA has never released a patch that didn't break something else. Just make this "event" an SDX drop. You're going to have to do it eventually, EA. Meanwhile you just lost yourself a whale. I'm the guy who's been buying your crap since the early 1980s.
I'm done EA. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ finished with you.
