The game program files are installed all in one place, including all DLC/packs. They can NOT be separated from the game. But you may be able to move the install folder, especially useful if you have more than one internal hard drive. If you only have one internal drive, I would recommend buying a second one and having it installed by a pro, otherwise use a large external hard drive. If you cannot afford that, check how much space is taken up in your Mods folder in the Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4 folder. If it is more than 500 MB, you can free up space by moving all of those to another drive, though it will also temporarily remove your custom content CAS mode, custom build mode, and buy items. You can also use your computer Windows settings (the same ones you use to get Windows updates) but there is a storage space or storage management setting there. The default for cleanup is the C drive. If you do not want any downloads removed, then those should be moved to desktop, documents, or another drive, or you can use advanced cleaning settings to specify which files to clean, and whether you want browsers, including cookies, cleaned. Clean out as many temp files as you can, they are only needed if in use. Do not download, update, or install anything while running the cleaning operation.

Laptops usually only have one spot for a storage device, so your better plan is to look into getting the current internal drive swapped for a larger one. Since you're posting here you probably don't have any PC repair contacts so go to a place like Bestbuy or Microcenter and ask them what it'll cost to do it for you.

I would not install game files on an SD card even if it was easy, the read speeds of them are usually terrible and they are not meant to be written/read constantly. Even most external drives are going to be a big performance hit, paying for a larger internal drive is your best plan.

ok.

Well if I don't want to get my laptops internal storage device replaced then what do I do?

Not use an SD card as storage for applications, that's for sure. A USB 3 based external drive is your next best option to expand. Black Friday sales and all this week so go shopping.

But you will be annoyed with how that works out and so will the Steam/EA client any time you try to access the game and forget to plug it in.

"sd cards"? no. i don't think so...but to an extra ssd (or hdd...which i do not recommend), yes. (but if you use mods know this: if your operating system is on a different ssd than your game files are installed in, you can't place the mod files on the same ssd where your games are, ts4 mods can only store where your documents file is. But the mods function fine even if they are not installed on same ssd)

ok

Thats what I was gonna say, get a ssd external, can do HDD external but slow loading. Best way for laptop. Unless you buy a cheap like a 2TB+ internal 2.5" hdd reinstall window or mirror backup of OS, which is more troublesome, if you don't understand how to upgrade a HD or by HD software to upgrade for you

Newer +1000$ above laptops have space for 2 drives ssd+HD.
