Hackers are pure evil who probably hate The Sims 4 and never play it or do not play it anymore. They enjoy making it hell for people who can only fully enjoy The SIms 4 by using mods. Even if only 1% of all mods are at risk of being hacked that is still too many because they all should be left alone.

Summary: ModTheSims is affected. Be wary of all downloads in the last 24 hours there and avoid downloading mods from there for now. Confirmed infected are TwistedMexi mods from ModTheSims + No Mosaic / Censor Mod from moxiemason (They already got removed).

I only D/L mods directly from mod devlopers on Patreon. Never had any security issues.

IIRC you don't need an account to download from Patreon. just to Join memberships and access paid content and comment.

Well, It depends on the dev and the content. There is a lot of free content available from different modders though.

The best way to search for patreon content is to just sign to different developers for free. Their search algorythm will show you stuff based on that.

Would be a smart idea for mod authors to change their passwords and make the passwords strong, on any site they uploaded mods to...just a thought.

No, ModGuard will not protect you from it. It doesn’t require that you start the game that it installs itself. That only thing which can protect you is your security software and that you don't download affected mods
