Why should I care? I'm not EA. All I care about is that having a boat lets you go fishing.
It depends on DLC. If the DLC offers cross pack feature then they test more as with the base game. Crystal Creation, Death and Life were both tested with more DLC and the livestrem was with all DLC. All in all it depends on the team which works on it and how interesting the team finds the topic. You see a big quality difference if gurus like the topic or not.
Of course if we here only talk about the base game updates nobody knows how they test them. In the end it doesn’t matter. Players will be always the best playtester and will always find bugs which your QA never will encounter.
