So called Inclusiveness...

Does anyone else have an issue with EA removing Husband/Wife and Boyfriend/Girlfriend? Personally, I prefer the original titles, and have no problem with EA adding more options, like Spouse/Partner... but why did they have to exclude those of us who prefer the traditional titles, and who may even be offended by lgbtq+ gender titles and relationship titles? I mean, to add them as an option is understandable, as I am aware that some people prefer those titles... but I, like many others, do not... So why are we being excluded in order to include others?

As do custom/non-binary pronouns (e.g. they/them) only add to interface (off the end of a sim's name). Gameplay and sims remain otherwise unchanged. Were these custom/nb pronouns to suddenly be removed from TS4's CAS options, many players would fiercely object..

The point is no different to opposing players which had deemed the above mentioned pronouns and other additions irrelevant to themselves, even silly nonsense, oftentimes politically charged, but irrelevant to their games in any matter. A terrible, two-sided fuss was made over that, too. Why argue with others over changes to the game if those changes are of no consequence to you?

Hate is one thing, but in as much as I've read, many players in this thread appear to want all options returned, both neutral and/or gendered terms. Personally, I don't find the harm in seeing everyone's individual enjoyment of a fantasy-life simulation game.

l am from the ancient generation according to my kids. But I have no problem with them adding the other I just don't think they should take the old away and offend those in order to please the new. I mean in doing that you are telling the older that it is the new way or the highway and I don't think that is a good thing. I don't care what others wish to call themselves and I will show them respect for their ways even though it is not mine but I expect respect for mine as well. That is why let your wheel or drop down show them all and that way you can not offend anyone and give them a choice instead of forcing something on others that they do not agree with or understand. It is called RESPECT and that applies to all not just a few.
Like I said I don't care just a solution to those that have a fit over something that is not worth having a stroke over. I have raised three families in my years and this last one is teaching me a whole new language as I am sure mine did with my parents. But learning is fun it you let be and we should learn to respect others. We all have feelings and life is too blasted short to fight over things that are going to change next year. There is a cycle in life and when we come full circle it will start over. Look at bell-bottoms for crying out loud.

I am not a Democrat (which might be considered surprising to some people), but I do not have an issue with this from CaS and preferably make my sims straight and/or stay single (but might have boyfriend/girlfriend meaing partner) anytime I play The Sims 4. I could understand why this is controversial because instead of spouse it could have said husband/wife and instead of partner it could have said boyfriend/girlfriend, but I am perfectly fine with engaged being gender neutral and this may not be as big of a deal as some people are making it out to be. I would have quit playing this game a long time ago if I hated this so much including sexual orientation and pronouns being added from 2022.

getting a whole refund over titles is mad, it doesnt change your whole game. sims has an age restriction, grow up bud..

Also, gender neutral terms aren't excluding anybody lol, that's the whole purpose of it. Who tf cares? You know what the words represent so they're being fit for purpose.

I fail to see the problem here. Those terms aren't exactly new, have been used for ages... in older literature, you'll find the word "spouse" very frequently referring to husband or wife, and what's wrong with "engaged"? Also, if there's an option to customise these terms in live mode - where's the problem? Wanting a refund for the entire game including DLCs over such a minor matter is very odd, not to mention unrealistic.

Definitely and Acai Luhm wanting a refund for such a small detail even though it is probably too late for a refund makes it appear to suggest that maybe Acai Luhm is thinking about quitting The SIms 4, but the question is why now instead of earlier? The new addition of pronouns and sexual orientation were controversial when it first came out during 2022 and what happened back then is not really that much different than what is happening now. However, this change I think is overall less controversial than the new addition of pronouns and sexual orientation from 2022.

How is this a problem? You might be better off going on Wkipedia or something and try to understand what gender neutrality actually means.

Good luck trying for refunds tho, after the 2 hours mark Steam wont issue you one and on EA app you waver the right for a refund as soon as you press Download.

Fun fact, people want a choice in things for their game. Taking away said choice isnt inclusive at all. Mind you my two male sims like calling each other husbands than spouse anyday because in my story they like it better that way. Such a mind blowing thing to know right!
