Self discovery... bug?
My sim's partner Bella had only 2 self discoveries but the notif said that she is full already. There should be at least one more self discovery, no? Is it a bug or it's my fault for tampering with cas.fulleditmode?

Don’t read about a bug report but I read generally that the self-discovery has a tend to bug out if you change your traits via cheat and potion, I would not surprised if this too a bug which can happen. Best rule is just let your traits alone as soon you have the first self-discovery trait added.

Maybe i just delete all self discovery traits, turn off the discovery and turn it back on, hoping it will solve the problem.

I think you can by a potion via the rewards store that allows you to reset traits.

Don’t use it you trigger this bug with it: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-Retraining-potion-removes-additional-traits/m-p/12469945

It doesn’t reset this feature. If you had once all three you will never get them again with this sim. There is some work-a-round to reset it via MCCC. Remove the hidden trait trait_hidden_selfdiscoverymax.

Ah, good to know, thanks. I've never used it and don't plan to use it 'cause I think the Sims developing/earning new traits and have life discoveries that fit their lifestyle is kinda realistic, so usually I just go along with it.

If you have cheats enabled, you can Shift+Click your sim. Choose to edit Sim Info and you can find Add Traits and Remove Traits within the subsequent menu. A picker menu will then pop up showing the sim's Traits (some are hidden, maybe unless you use a mod to show hidden). You can click on whichever you want to add or remove.

It's possible this may need TwistedMexi's All Cheats mod. I'm not positive because I've always had it installed. It's here if required;

The only other mod I've used to remove Traits is UI Cheats, but it only gives the option to click on and remove what's already in your sim's bio. As far as I'm aware, you can't add any with it.

I don't want to cheat this way. I only cheat with CAS age, appearance and removing traits, but don't want to add any above 3, only with self discovery. If Maxis would add features from Sims 3 such as it's youth potion from chemistry table and body surgery, i would stop cheating completely.

Hmmm wait... hidden traits? Like i experienced this stupid bug where i erased romantic trait from a premade sim and the game still acted like the sim has it, having bad moodlets from low romance and such? That kind of hidden traits?

Did you swap any traits? Such as, a sim had gloomy and swapped it for cheerful, or romantically reserved can be changed into romantic or lovebug. I think these technically take up a slot, so you might only end up with 5 total (haven't tested this myself yet, but it's what I've seen others say).

No. I only choosing specific traits which i wouldn't exchange for opposite. Also for self discovery i choosing specific.

I've used this method to safely remove Self-Discovery Traits so as to avoid the bug which can manifest if you try to delete in CAS. You don't have to cheat any additional Traits. If you were wanting to do a clean Traits deletion, it was to suggest removing them all, or almost all (it permits just one at a time) and only re-adding their original three. That's so Self Discovery Traits are fully gone when you go back into CAS.
But I don't know what was done in CAS. If you'd already used casfulledit to remove any of their original three Traits, this method won't work in that case. In any case, though, you could try using the MCCC resets as Xeriath suggested.

Yeah, if you remove traits vias CAS the Sim can bug out and you still have it but hidden. In this case is the best option to add the trait back via cheat in live-mode and remove it again. Sims 4 use a lot of hidden traits/buffs to create specific behaviors and they can get stuck. This happens often for people which play rotation.

Thanks, i will try that. But i getting tired of this bug-galore game...

Edit: I downloaded MCCC scripts and used it on Bella, there was hidden trait Self_discoveries_full or something in that form, i deleted it. We will see if it helps.

I agree, but I also find it somewhat annoying. I had a couple have a single "unpleasant" exchange and suddenly their relationship was "difficult". And it was like their first interaction after creating them, while they were still standing on the front yard of their new house. Seems like it should at least take a bit of time.
Abyssian Aug 28, 2024 @ 11:30am
Oh man... i just found out that not all hidden traits can be shown by MCCC. My sim still suffering from noncommital trait even when she don't have it anymore. Any more reliable mod for this?
