is this game really worth $1200?
i made a post about europa universal 4 having a $500 ultimate pack but this game takes the cake with the most bottlenecked community because nobody can afford the dlc to actually play the game. this is why nobody wants a sims 5 or is even talking about sims anymore.

Nobody? Please speak for yourself and don't pretend to know what others can or cannot do.
Thank you.

Sigh. Oh, look. Another poster whining and moaning about the price of DLC. :steamfacepalm:
nobody can afford the dlc to actually play the game.
Here's a shocker - you don't *need* the DLC to "actually play the game".

You can enjoy the (free) Basegame without any real Issue. Almost all the DLCs are just Bloat of Furniture, Hair Styles, Clothing and random Deco. The actually useful DLCs are pretty expensive but if you really want, lets say, Animals or Vampires, you wait until its on sale then bite the bullet and spend the 20something€. Since the Basegame is 0 you technically only spend 20€ overall.
I spend 0€ on Sims 4 until today. My Sister spend 40something€ on it since she got Animals and Vampires. My Brother spend 20something€ Because he really REALLY wanted Werewolfes. Yes, EA is ripping us of with DLCs, mayorly so, but if you spend smart its still less then a AAA Game outside of Sale in Terms of Costs
I think "nobody" wants a Sims 5 because outside of new Graphics they dont add much. Might aswell keep Sims 4 polished and constantly ♥♥♥♥ out new DLCs to keep it fresh

How do you know? The predictions for the Sims 5 are: Open World, Drive-able Cars, Multiplayer and other features not found in the Sims 4. Whether any of those, or ALL of those, will come to fruition, it's still much too early to tell. Please don't generalize based on your own thoughts about whether Sims players want - or don't want - a new Sims game.

No. It's worth as much as you are willing to spend on it.

wouldn't this be a good idea for dlc rather than a whole new game?

No, that's not possible. Someone created a mod for Multiplayer, but for Open World and Drive-able cars, the entire base game would have to be rewritten from the ground up. It's impossible to create a DLC that would provide those features.

This is always so weird when someone else posts this exact same post as someone did yesterday.

Why in the world would you buy everything? You can't tell me that every single pack ever put out is something you absolutely can't play the game without. You can't tell me honestly you are going to use every feature of every pack, and there's no way you can't have fun unless you have an ice cream maker and a pack about sweaters with holes in them.

Watch videos. See what's in packs. Be honest with yourself if you actually want this stuff and you'll use it, or do you for some reason think you just have to have everything for no logical reason.

I personally never wanted a refund from any dlc on The SIms 4 (including even My Wedding Stories; although, I already knew what to expect before buying it and was one of the later packs I purchased instead of one my first packs), but some people who buy these packs might want a refund. And so even if at full price this dlc was much more affordable especially with expansion packs (such as for example costing $30 at full price instead of $40) and gamepacks (costing $15 at full price instead of $20, but stuff packs and kit packs would probably not be reduced that much in comparison such as maybe costing $7.99 or $7.49 for each stuff pack at full price and $3.99 for each kit pack) I would still like to think some people would want a refund regardless especially for expansion packs (besides Get Together; although, there might be some other exceptions where people rarely want a refund with certain types of expansion packs) and/or gamepacks (besides maybe Werewolves, Strangerville, Vampires, and/or Realm of Magic) even if they were cheaper than they are now at full price plus even cheaper than that when included with bundles and discount sales. People like to complain about The Sims 4 almost constantly especially when it comes to the cost of dlc and pretty much everywhere on social media (X which was formerly Twitter, Facebook, Steam, YouTube, and etc...) despite its mostly positive reviews for basegame on Steam.

The base game is now free...as far as DLC, buy what interests you. You don't need it all. The game has been out since 2014. When you buy a little bit here and there over the course of 10 years, it doesn't seem like a lot of money. I still don't have even close to all the packs. I buy what interests me when it's on sale and there's even been a few times when EA gave a kit away for free.
You don't have to pay that much if you wait for the sales. I have sunk as much into games like WoW, EQ, etc over even briefer periods, so I don't see where this is any more expensive. At least there is no sub fee and you can play what you have already purchased without paying more to get to your game.
