Help! DLC Issue with switching steam accounts
So, my partner and i use steam on the same PC. She plays the sims on her account. Whenever I sign in to my account and log her out something happens with her sims dlc. When she switches back to her account and plays sims 4 she has to redownload all of her packs or DLC. Has anyone else struggled with this with the sims or any other game? Does anyone know a fix? It takes an annoyingly long time for everything to redownload.

You should have separate versions of the game tied to your individual accounts. Or are you both using a single computer? If that's the case then Steam & EA only allow one account to be active per computer. The only way is to have the Sims 4 installed on separate computers. Or, if you can't do that, then make a separate user and login for each of you, with their own files, games and Steam account etc.

We are both using the same computer with separate steam accounts. I do not play the sims at all and don’t open the game on my account. Its when we use the change accounts option on steam, so that she can play the sims, that she is forced to redownload all the DLC. Is this just an issue that can only be solved by having 2 PCs do you think?

Hey, you could give your partner an own local user in windows. As long you don’t have Sims 4 in your library Steam will just ignore her game.

My partner shares his PC with a stand desk with me. I have there a local Windows account which I sometimes use if I want to stand or use my balance board while playing games. Steam will still synch games which you both have installed but don’t touch other games as long only 1 person has it installed. Not sure if this for Sims 4 work too. I don’t have Sims installed on his PC and only play games which have controller support there.

Did you find a fix for this? I’ve shared with my partner for months and for some reason it’s started doing this the last couple days?

Did you guys find any workaround for this? It started happening to my sister and I's accounts just recently. We share one PC and everytime I switch her account into mine, when she plays, it requires her to download her DLCs again. Help would be great if you guys found a solution. Thank you.
