because I'm a builder
I haven't gotten For Rent so far, and I'll steer clear of the Star Wars pack - I won't use that one anyway, and the reviews aren't very encouraging, too. I didn't get all of the kits, too, because I know I won't use them - like carnival, or the maroccan-style build kit. That one does look gorgeous, but I know I'll never use it in a build. I also won't get Bust the Dust simply because my Sims are cleaning way too much already 😁 And if it hadn't been free a couple of months ago, I wouldn't have gotten My First Pet because a DLC for a DLC is ridiculous even by EA standards. Also, it doesn't add much, and the stuff that is in there could have been included with Cats & Dogs.
I am on the fence about Journey to Batuu actually despite me owning this gamepack. Part of me wants to like it but I also think it would require Realm of Magic (because you cannot use the force but this would help at least partially to make up for this) and extreme violence mod (which I have not used yet, but maybe you could use lightsabers to kill sims with this mod) to make it feel more complete. According to my Steam review I gave it a 5 out of 10 (because part of me wants to like it and other people might feel same way because they like Star Wars but might have mixed feelings about this gamepack), but would overall not recommend it.
I'm just glad that most of it was not with my own money, but gifts from family and friends, with a bit of my own purchases. I honestly might have gotten enough buyer's remorse from this -- had it all been my own money -- to either give up gaming entirely, or solely sail the high seas.
Even now, its hard to purchase games/DLC that I had been looking forward to, even if they are on sale for 50% off. Why? Because I think about what a waste this game was compared to a previous version. Because this game reminds me of how games in general these days are getting worse, while costing more. Because I could just play old games I enjoy.
I might just reinstall TS3 and go back to a good version of The Sims. Or even go back to TS2 for certain features I was sad didn't get brought to TS3; even though I still see TS3 as an overall improvement on the series.
Just... don't. Don't get all the DLC. Hell don't even get DLC you want unless its on sale for a minimum 75% off
