I actually do like Get To Work. In fact, right now I have a married couple that I follow to work, she's a doctor, and he is a detective.
As for other careers: What about the fashion career that came with the Moschino pack? I haven't tried it so far, but since you can build your own studio, I imagine you get to do the work, too - like with the interior decor.
Simply it’s always the same patter with Sims 4 DLC; Bugs, half-baked content, features which are annoying designed (not play tested).
Ratings from Get to Work have gone up a little as of recent, but it still has its fair share of problems including the aliens could have been better, retail apparently requires some kind of mod(s) because it does not seem to work properly without mods, probably more than half of the negative reviews are old such as when Get to Work first came out, some bugs that were either never fixed by EA or took a very long time before EA would finally fix them, home world of Magnolia Promenade could have bigger with more lots even with Sixam as an additional world since your sims cannot actually live there, at least a few or more people making the debate that Get to Work similar to Seasons/Cats&Dogs should have been basegame, and some people may not enjoy the careers because they might eventually seem like they are repetitive and less fun overtime despite the fact you do not necessarily have to follow with your sims when go to work meaning it is optional just like Copperdale from HSY expansion pack.
Most dlc on The Sims 4 are overall within the range of 40%-60% positive resulting in mixed reviews. If want you some examples where Get to Work adds more gameplay than some of the other expansion packs the most obvious ones that add less gameplay than Get to Work include Horse Ranch (gameplay is limited to mostly just nectar making, horses, goats, and sheep but not every household should necessarily own a horse, goats, and/or sheep), Discover University (because I rarely send my sims to a university and do not commonly play with robots in addition to research and debate skill where the only thing about this pack that specifically stands out as potentially interesting is the new teaching career), and High School Years (overall seems to have more gameplay than Horse Ranch and Discover University, but less than Get to Work where gameplay seems to be focused mainly on teens besides two new part time careers, social bunny, body hair growth, and shaving).
