I always just buy through Steam.... Never an issue.

It makes no difference. Buy whatever format has the DLC on sale at the time. If you are running the Steam base game, then it will always launch from Steam, and will in turn launch the EA app.

So far when I see a sale it seems both have the same sale prices. Not seen Steam have a sale and EA not or vice versa.

yeah but with ea there is a collection sale meaning you can chose three items one pack one other thing and one set and they give you a 20% discount and ccan order them that way i dont think steam has that but what if ea app shuts down ! i would lose alot of money

Steam sometimes offers bundles, too, but the deal the EA app offers is better, and I don't think EA is going to discontinue the app. All their games are tied to it, and ever since it replaced Origin, you need to have it if you wanna play - even if you play via Steam.

20% is NOT a big sale. Steam has a bigger discount every time Sims 4 packs go on sale. For the bigger sales they have even set the price at more than 50% off for some packs. The only benefit of the EA bundle is the ability to choose which packs you combine. Do they even still have this offer or is it available off and on like the sales on Steam? It disappeared from my game months ago.
Even if they did shut down the EA app they would have to switch to something else to support their games and your DLC should transfer the way it did when they made everyone switch from Origin to the EA app.

It's probably got to do with bundles being only available for older packs; they don't let you bundle the newest DLCs like For Rent or Horse Ranch with the crystal pack and werewolves. Once you have all the older DLCs, the option seems to disappear - it did for me, too.

The only bundle that's still showing when I scroll down is the once containing Parenthood, Cats & Dogs and that DLC for Cats & Dogs. It's selling for 50 Euros; that's pretty much the same price they charge when you bundle three DLCs.

I'm not sure because it's been a while since I got a bundle via the app, but can you put together a bundle when DLCs are already on sale and get an additional discount?

You are 11 years on Steam and still not figuring out when games go on sale here? My sincerest condolences.

The next sale should be Steam Summer Sale at the end of June.

Add the packs you want or are interested in to your wishlist. That way, you'll get an e-mail once the packs go on sale.
