You will find NPC have become more- let's say choosy. If you attempt to flirt with some NPC they will outright say you are not what they are interested in.
romantic: women
exploring: yes
wohoo: both
In live mode she's getting "awkward" and "tense" when I do romance actions on her, but the romantic meter still seems to be able to be increased and then the info about her interest on her profile went away. I guess this is the "exploring" modifier? I checked 4 other sims and all seem to have this modifier. Is this a temporary thing or are they "exploring" forever?
Does this mean all sims have exploring as default and forever, whether created by me or the game, and I have to turn it off in cas to restrict them? I guess that's fine then, but I still don't like that I'm getting "awkward" and "tense" reactions, so it's not completely like it used to be.
Why would they do this? Let the player decide. Did players request this? How does that even make sense? So you wan't to romance an npc but you want it to reject you?
Yeah, if you have a female sim romancing with a male sim but CAS tells you she's romantically interested in women, you'll have to edit her preferences = cheats on, then cas.fulleditmode
She's tense whilst romantically interacting with your male because the game's default has, for whatever reason, set her romantic attraction to women, not men.
These settings have been a nuisance for many a player. You have to look at them ever since they'd come about. It may be necessary to change the sims you play to fit their respective romantic relationships or potentially, others you'd like to form.
If your female is exclusively with a male partner, you may want to change her as;
Romantic: Male (or both if not exclusive to male)
Exploring: No
Woohoo: Male (or both if not exclusive to male)
Why would I turn off exploring? It's the only thing saving this update.
Mods that affect preferences like WW WILL affect whether or not randomly generated townies are customized.
Unless I'm mistaken and I could be mistaken, in an unmodded game, all previously existing and pre-made sims retain their preference settings which is either custom for some new pre-made sims or the default pansexual/exploring setting LIKE SIMS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN for everysim else including newly generated townies.
Don't get hung up on the "life sim" argument.
The game works as it always had, except now you can ACTUALLY make your sim heterosexual or homosexual or bisexual/pansexual or asexual or aromantic. Player choice. No unwanted romantic relationships if you don't want them.
It still amazes me that the TS4 community lost and still loses their !@#$ over this, but bigots gonna be bigots whether it's rational or not.
"unwanted"? If you don't want it just don't select that action?
The only way something unwanted could happen is with autonomy. If you don't want "unwanted" actions turn off autonomy, but even with autonomy on sims don't really do romantic things on their own unless you already made them a couple. Maybe that's just how I play the game but no one has ever made their own relationship without me orchestrating it. Seems like you are inventing a problem that never existed.
What have I said that warrants this accusation? Is there any bigoted movement that demands everyone be pansexual? I have never heard of this.
That was a "general" comment not directed at you specifically.
To answer the question though, no, there isn't a bigoted movement that demands everyone be pansexual. Sims have simply always been "fluid" (is the correct term) because anysim could always romance anysim, and that's just how this franchise has always been.
From the wiki and concerning The Sims 2: https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/Gender_preference#Changing_gender_preference
So when "those bigoted people" complain about pronouns and preferences, it just shows that they have no real knowledge of this game or the franchise.
They are also incapable of understanding that the "pronouns, preference and romance" update benefited them equally by allowing them to create truly heterosexual sims.
It is directed at me when it's posted in reply to me in my topic.
You don't have to talk about other people and what they may or may not think. I don't see how this update benefits anyone though as making any type of preference was already possible and has been forever. This is strictly a limitation. Like if dollhouse dolls came with a backstory and when you play that two of your dolls are married your dad comes in and says that is not allowed according to their backstory.
