The Sims™ 4

micro-managing on sims and their lives is not fun
it becomes a constant struggle to make everything under control. once somethings wrong, everything goes downward spiral. sims used to be simple and fun now it requires too much
attention on everything and takes fun out of this micromanagement game.

I feel like I need to direct you to TS2 lol
Most people say TS4 is actually much easier. I personally am someone who NEEDS to micromanage my Sims. Freewill is turned off at all times because I cannot handle them trying to do whatever they want and going into need failure for it.
Some people enjoy the chaos. There's a few YT's I watch that thrive on it and something is constantly on fire.

Is it a certain number of sims that make things difficult? There might be mods around to make things easier to manage depending on what exactly the problem is you're facing. If it's specific aspects, like werewolf rage or vampire thirst. It could be trying to do things in Live mode vs pausing first. Could also just be the number of sims gets to be too much (I personally prefer smaller households. Once I hit five I basically am looking to see who can die or move out).

Sims are just stupid, because of this I play exactly how Ani plays. It gives some mods which should make the autonomy better. I never used them, because Sims then behavior how the mod creator like it and then they are not mine anymore. Some of this mods even love it to ignore the autonomy toggle. Even EA love it to have some autonomy action for people which play with autonomy off (stupid infant behavior)

That can definitely be an issue. My main household that I created over a year ago had seven Sims at one point, plus a dog. Two of those Sims were adults, one was a teenager, one had just started grammar school, and three were infants. It was terribly stressful because the infants required so much extra care - you can leave teenagers and children to their own devices if necessary because they are capable of attending to their needs themselves. But infants, and three of them? Pure stress. At that point, the game turned into work for me, so I totally get why micromanagement can put people off the game. I took quite a few breaks, too, and focused on building houses instead.

I always have autonomy turned on, though, because my Sims very often come up with hilarious stuff that I wouldn't want to miss, so for me playing TS4 is a mix of bossing them around and giving them some freedom :)

When micromanaging made the game too boring for me I turned my thinking around and started to welcome all of the random events and what-not that happen. It's easier to make a story out of their lives when they go through ups and downs and it's really boring when they live pristine perfect lives. Some of my best sims games were insane dysfunctional families where I didn't care about consequenses. Otherwise, playing the sims is just the same as watching a bunch of robots after some time.
