Check that the ea app and Sims 4 aren't already running (assuming your using windows), press CNTRL, ALT, Delete together and look in the Task Manager to see if they are running end task for all instances of Sims 4 and ea app. Exempt Sims 4 in your anti virus program from anti virus checks.

How to:
Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to open Task Manager
If you don't see tabs at the top of Task Manager's window click "More Details" at the bottom.
Click on the "Processes" tab and scroll through looking for anything that says "Sims4" or "TheSims4". If you see anything related to TheSims4 listed = it truly is already running.
Left-Click to Highlight each listing you see of the game running and then click the End Task button in the bottom right corner.
