The Sims™ 4

The Sims™ 4

The game can't start
every time i try to start the game from either steam or EA, the game just won't run for unknown reasons. There is no error message, just click to start the game and nothing happened. Before this, I am still playing normally, I have checked the integrity of the game and re-installed it, I tried to remove mods and dlc but it didn't work.

Have you tried to repair the EA app? Sometimes it blocks the game from launching, and it won't give you an error message either.

Does that mean the "app recovery" function in EA? It doesn't seem to help. Thanks for replying anyway.

There are three parallel lines in the top left corner of the app. If you click on them, a dropdown menu opens. There you go to "help"; that should give you four options, the last one is for repairing the app. Just click on it, the app will do the rest. If the app is the reason why you can't launch the game, this should work; I've had to do it myself a couple of times, oh, and you might wanna restart your computer, too, once you've repaired the app :)

Should i press "restart app2 or "app recovery"??
Let's try few things

1. make sure your TS4.exe is included in your Win OS DEP firewall exclusion list. Sometimes for whatever reason, this may need to be updated. Also add the Origin.exe and EA Desktop.exe files to this.

2. Set admin privileges for both Origin and EA desktop apps!

3. Make sure your Origin and EA Desktop apps are up to date. Need to do this with every patch if the game doesn't launch

4. If you bought your TS4 DLC on Steam, make sure your TS4 DLC game keys (in your Steam library) are still linked to Origin server side. Origin needs to validate TS4 game keys which were NOT bought through Origin store. So whenever you launch the game on Steam, this will activate EA Desktop app. And EA Desktop will connect to Origin server network to validate your Origin account AND Steam game keys. Once this server to server handshake is complete, the Origin will allow Steam to launch the game.

5. Repetitious. But after updating the EA Desktop/Origin apps, try re- validating the TS4 files in your Steam game library again. Just to be sure.

Go ahead and try launching the game from Steam. You should be able to launch the game after this without issues.

On #5: This last EA patch FUBARED Simmers game folders with that "missing DLC" error message on attempted login. In my case, the patch not only DELETED my TS4 game key copies on the Origin account side, but also literally CORRUPTED 46 of my TS4 game files in my Steam library. As a result, I had to revalidate my entire TS4 game folder. Steam did this and replaced all the modified files this latest patch F@cKED up.

App recovery, and if that doesn't work, try the things Alaric the Visigoth listed :)

I haven't logged in steam these days, so I didn't see your reply in time. I will try these later. Thank you for your reply:steamthumbsup:
