Sims 4: internet (?) issues
Hello, I don't speak english very often so please forgive me for any mistake :)
It's been two days since I had issues with opening the game, first i had the "105 error" thing where it would simply not work, i cleared the EA cache and it seems like it is solved. But now, whenever I try, Steam says that they can't open the game because they have no internet connection, although I checked and my PC is connected to internet. I don't know if it's about EA, Steam or just my game/PC not working together, please let me know if you have any idea

I had this happen to me a couple of days ago but it turned out our internet provider was doing work in our area and our internet was actually the problem even though I guess our Wifi somehow was still active and while my PC can't run off Wifi my phone and tablet could. Oddly my PC was still showing me connected but nothing on PC would work. Might be good idea to verify files on Steam. That and cleaning cache helps most of the time.
If your ISP is not the issue then:

1. Reinstall your Origin and EA Desktop Apps

2. If you bought TS4 on Steam, then let Steam re-validate the game files in your TS4 directory. Some files may have become corrupted with the latest patch

3. Make sure your mods folder is up to date. If not, REMOVE IT. Outdated mods can stop the game from launching properly

4. Login to your Origin account. If you can see your TS4 games (and any other EA games) you bought then you're properly logged.

5. Now LAUNCH THE GAME THROUGH STEAM. DO NOT LAUNCH THE GAME FROM ORIGIN. Minimize the Origin dashboard. And just launch the game normally through Steam

I see, but the thing everything works normally but the app... Did you just wait a few days until your provider was done working around your area?

Thanks for your answer, but the thing is I can't open the game through Steam neither, and I already reinstalled my Origin and EA Desktop (as I saw in another conversation about a similar topic)

That is, you may not understand what I say because I'm simply not clear, or even I am the one who misunderstands things and in this case I am truly sorry, but even after I checked if I did that you advise, the game still doesn't seem to work. A message imediately pops on the screen, wether I try to open it from EA, Steam or simply clicking on from the Desktop of my PC/files saved. Please let me know if there are some other possibilities, or if I just missed something :)

You don't need to have both Origin and the EA app installed. EA discontinued the Origin App for everything except Macs. Those are still using Origin. In fact, that might be at least part of the reason why there's issues.
That's incorrect Land Aeleanor. I only run TS4 through Steam (100% of all TS4 DLC on Steam). Whenever I launch the game from my Steam library, Steam immediately activates EA Desktop. Which in turn, activates the legacy Origin app. You see, this handshake is necessary because Origin has to verify the validity of my Steam DLC game keys. That's why I automatically open my account in the Origin dashboard (even though I don't have any games in the Origin library). Makes the Steam server to Origin server interaction process that much easier.

So EA Desktop app will ALWAYS automatically open the Origin Desktop on the EA server side. Once the Steam keys are validated, Origin permits Steam to launch the game.

Because Origin server DRM will NOT permit a launch of the TS4.exe from a non Origin client end. Unless it can verify the game TS4.exe on the client side (via Steam, XBox etc) isn't pirated or compromised. This is also the reason why if you make the mistake of buying the 1.69 Origin version of TS3, EA will also put this 15 year old OFFLINE game behind this same DRM server wall. Unlike the 1.67 Steam version which 00 by default of being the ORIGINAL 2009 DVD release --- can be directly launched from your PC desktop WITHOUT an internet connection.

This Origin Dashboard/DRM security wall is the reason behind the massive PR fallout with the Simmer fanbase this last patch. Historically whenever EA updates TS4, the update typically brakes the Origin and/or EA Desktop apps. So these always need to be updated after every patch.

And if the Sims dev team FUBARs the update like this past release which DELETED legitimate game keys for players on the Origin server side, then updating the EA/Origin apps become a nightmare. Because even if they're updated, players STILL couldn't login because their game keys had been deleted on the Origin side.

HOWEVER us Steam players were lucky, because Steam ALWAYS keeps a safe backup copy of ALL your TS4 (and TS3) game keys in it's cloud.

Also know that EA patch updates typically FUBAR other critical stuff as well. This past update on the Steam side literally CORRUPTED many game files in player TS4 Steam libraries. So these files literally had to be re-validated and reacquired by Steam first before ppl could finally get their game to launch. This last patch was a hot, steaming, f@cking mess

Now they're going to update on a WEEKLY f@cking basis with drip feed DLC. We're so F@CKED. RIP TS4

So those of us Steam TS4 Simmers didn't have any problems validating the TS4 game keys. I

Hope that clears things up.

Can you post a link with a screen shot of the error? Take a picture of the error and upload it to pastebin or someother file sharing service. Then post the link here

Well, sorry for wasting everyone's time, it seems the game suddenly worked after I tried a few more times to open it, I think Steam and the game simply didn't work as it just sent me a notification as if the game just finished downloading... Very sorry and grateful for your efforts, I hope the game won't break again... :)
Have a good day, and thank you again

I don't have Origin on my computer. Completely uninstalled. Yet, Sims 4 works fine.

I don't know anything about Origin except I have a star wars Jedi that apparently though them but I purchased it through Steam or SW one anyway it is still apparently and Origin game. I do not have a Mac just a regular PC. I thought Origin was a thing of the past except for Mac users. I have never even had the origin app on my PC. Never had problems with that one when I used to play it. The only reason I have EA installed is because I was made to when I got Sims 4. However, the only thing I have through them is one of the freebies they just did and I don't think Steam even sees it but I still have use of it when I play.
This stuff get crazy
