Initilization error at startup?
The love update apparently downloaded a few days ago (I'm assuming so because the option to update is not there) and I'm now getting the error message "Unable to start: Initialization error at startup. [135dec40:3fbbecd0:00000064:00000000]"
I think it's an issue with the update because it wasn't there before, but nobody else I talk to has this issue. Google is unhelpful because I have EA not Origin. I think i could uninstall and reinstall the game, but I also don't want to lose my progress so I'm coming here. How do I fix this?

Did you make the mortal mistake of buying TS4 on Steam, logging into the game through your Origin account and updating (with recent update) your Steam game through Origin? Sounds like you authorized the Exceptional As$h@Ts to reinstall the game through THEIR server platform. Which if this is the case, then you won't be able to launch the game through Steam anymore...

If you bought yoru game on Steam, first update the POS EA Desktop app. And then the Origin client.

After that, re-validate ALL of the TS4 game files in your Steam library. If any of these were altered/corrupted by this last POS update (as it has for a LOT of ppl) then Steam will re-download original copies of every game file that was compromised.

Then login to your account in your Origin game library.

If your'e unable to login i.e. get the famous error message that game files were removed/missing from your Origin library, then you'll need to re-link your Steam TS4 game keys to Origin network.

To do that, you should see several icons in your Origin game library at login. These are the Xbox, Steam and some other platforms. Click the Steam icon and follow the prompt to re-link your Steam library key to Origin.

HOWEVER,

If you CAN login to your Origin library after re-validating your TS4 game folder on Steam, then minimize the Origin dashboard. And then launch the game directly from STEAM.

Note that your Origin account needs to be open and running in the background when Steam launches the game. Because EA's Origin servers need to validate the Steam game key.

So minimize the Origin dashboard and launch TS4 direct from Steam. This will automatically start the EA Desktop and then Origin apps. After a few minutes you should see the TS4 game launch screen.

Good luck!

If you make backups of your Saves and Tray Folders, you can copy those folders back after reinstalling. You should be making backups of those folders anyway.
