Increase in weather deaths?
Over the past few days I've noticed that SIms have been reluctant to autonomously wear winter gear when outside in snow. I've lost a couple of Sims- who I haven't been playing at the time- to hypothermia.

Most recently, I had Sim A visit Sim B (who is also an active household) only to find her literally being reaped for hypothermia INSIDE her heated house.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Sometimes the neighbor sims are smart enough to dress up appropriately for winter, but sometimes they are not where I have ask a sim to change outfit in order to prevent freezing to death. It only makes sense to not wear winter outfit in the snow (although, not all worlds on The Sims 4 get snow) during winter if exercising.

Sometimes they are just being a bit stupid. Shortly after I created a second household for my current save, the comedy festival came up, so I decided to send them there. This was in winter, and all the NPC Sims - including the two from the main household - were in t-shirts. All of them. Then Sim A from the new household decided she wanted a festival t-shirt and wear it instantly, despite the snow. She was fine. However, when Sim B from the same household did the same, she turned blue after a while and I had to tell her to change into her winter outfit, otherwise she would have frozen to death.

Later, when I switched back to my main household, the guy was outside barbequeing something, and he, too, was blue because it was still winter and for some reason, he had decided to go outside in his summer outfit. Now, I left that household to its own devices when I started to play with the second one, but that was at the turn from fall to winter, and fall in Brindleton Bay can be pretty cold, so there really was no logical reason for the guy to be out and about in a t-shirt.

Fun fact: During my absence, someone in the main household had decided to move one of the radiators outside onto the porch 😁 Not that it kept them warm, but hey, it obviously was worth a shot. No idea how that happened. The house isn't even haunted.

This is why I turn off weather effects on sims in settings. 1) Sims are stupid. 2) Sims are amazingly stupid. 3) What with reports of sims freezing to death inside their heated homes, it seems they don't work right, anyway.

Or you can just simply use weather machine to always skip winter. Sims freezing to death is more likely to happen during winter than other seasons. Another option is to make it rain with weather machine to make snow melt so that way you get less cold weather overall.

My spellcasters are modded to change weather by casting. ;)

Also, worth mentioning that my sims have never freezed to death inside of their homes, I frequently have accidental deaths turned off from neighborhood stories, and strangely enough my sims sometimes do not get cold when inside a house even without heat turned on and not wearing cold weather outfit even if there is snow outside. Overall, I think that the game would be more boring without seasons. I am also more concerned about neighbor sims freezing to death than my current household sims, but overall sims dying from heat seems to be more rare on The Sims 4 than sims dying from cold. Additionally, many sims are stupid enough to swim in a swimming pool during winter which could be problematic if the pool is not heated.

I intentionally killed a sim once from swimming in the swimming pool because it was not heated, but only because she was an elder dying from old age (who was originally a clone of Age Crumplebottom meaning she was not NPC and not the original Agnes), but was taking too long for her to die. So I made her go outside swimming with the weather outside being cold and spend long enough outside to kill her so that way I could more easily get her urn before switching to a different household. Unless if there is a specific sim I want to die, I rarely try to make sims die from the cold weather.
