The Sims™ 4

The Sims™ 4

*SOLVED* steam tries to open the sims but cannot open it, pls help
I press 'start', it says it's starting, it tries to open it, but it goes to the EA home page and stops opening it?? I verified file integrity, turned off things like VPN, restarted the computer, but it doesn't work. It's happened before, I deleted and reinstalled the game but it didn't work. PLEASE HELP... :steamsad:

What works for me is starting the EA app once separately from Steam then quitting it . Steam doesn't always set it up properly again after an update. Just make sure that "Start with Windows" and "Enable background services" are disabled under Settings -> Application. Although if its been installed through Steam it should default to those. Otherwise it will stay open all the time and confuse Steam .

I also had trouble getting the game to launch this morning.

After trying a few things, what worked for me was to open steam, go to Sims 4 in my library, open the "manage" tab to browse local files...

Program Files (x86) -> Steam -> SteamApps -> common -> The Sims 4 -> __Installer -> Origin -> redist -> internal

Will bring you to your EAappInstaller.exe

double click that and select "repair" when prompted.

This will reinstall and repair your EA launcher, ask you to log into your EA account and reconnect to you game files. Once the EA app is open and displaying your account you should be able to launch your game.

At least that was the solution to my issue today.
Hopefully this helps you too.
Best wishes!

Ahh, I've fixed it many times but it doesn't work :( I think there is nothing left that I haven't tried in both Steam and EA. I tried the way you said before, but it didn't work. I thought I corrupted the files, but Steam can't find any problem in the files. I'm really tired. I've been dealing with this for 2 days. There is nothing useful on the internet.. do you know another way? Thank you very much for your help and answer, have a nice day ^^

Should I punch the monitor? To be honest it works on old TVs but I don't think I can use it on a monitor ahjhahah joking aside I really need a solution :steamsad:

idk, something about EA's creeper "not spyware" software requires multiple unprompted restarts to install it's prerequisites before it can install the game, new updates will probably cause the same problem to re-appear on some computers with modified permission settings

definitely not meaning to actually hit anything
Guys, I found the problem. 2 of the CCs were broken. I solved it like this: I opened 2 separate folders. One is called "broken cc's" and the other is "clean cc's". I eliminated the cc's little by little until the game started, I threw the eliminated ones into the broken cc's folder and tried to open them after each elimination until the game started. When the game ran, I transferred what was left in the mods folder to the clean cc folder. I did this so many times that there were only 2 cc left and they were broken.. oh I can't believe it.. (if you have experienced this problem and don't understand it, I can explain it in more detail, I don't know English and I'm writing with translation, so maybe it's complicated lol )

I found it works to just start the game through the EA app. Steam will recognize it and record your progress too.

Also, I tried this after doing all of the things above.

Took me a couple of days of trying and then a simple solution for why my EA games were not launching presented itself. In my case I had steam starting in Family view. If family view is on, almost all of my EA games will not start in Steam or from the EA app. Once I turned off family view all my EA games will start normally using either Steam or the EA app. Hope this may help someone.
