Sims is very expensive
Although they have now made the base game free the DLCs are still extremely expensive. Take the "Pets" DLC for instance for instance for £35 pounds appx. That's ridiculously high for a DLC. It makes Sims seem more like a game as being chopped up into lots of pieces with a high price for each piece.

yeah you do that to survive, what you said literally has no correlation to a recreational video game?

i dont have to pay my bills just like you dont have to buy every sims dlc nor do you need to make a thread about this every single week

you literally do have to pay your bills??? to live???? if you dont buy a game you wont have a game, if you dont pay your bills you will be homeless? its a different person making this thread each week understandably since it seems the majority of you ea-bootlickers rereading them everytime need some sense knocked into you.

you poor summer child, you do know EA doesnt read the steam forums yes? you can ♥♥♥♥♥ about prices all day here and nothing will be done about it, if you dont like the price you can either not buy it or you can visit the official sims forum where maxis workers do read and reply to threads and voice your concerns about the price there

I Agree that the dlcs are very expensive.
The only thing you can do is to put the dlcs on the wishlist and wait for them to be on sale or a bundle.

Well, we don't have to buy Sims 3.
I bought sims 3 (again) because of steam sale. I also have it on DVD, and have it on Origin.
Don't need Origin or EA app to start it.
Don't need to be on line.
Lots cheaper. Steam sales. I think each DLC was $5.
One pack, Supernatural, has witches, fairies, werewolves and vampires. Not separate DLC for each.
The downside is that to mod it, if it's more than just a simple XML Settings adjustment, it requires C#.

Only purchase it if it on sale, it’s a pretty good deal https://steamdb.info/bundle/1247/

Let's compared to previous game!

Sims 3 Pets = IDR 282k (including cats, dogs, horses, and bunch of small pets)

Sims 4 Pets = IDR 479k (only cats and dogs)
you want small pets?? So, buy Sims My First Pet! it's only IDR 119k! But no birds, iguanas, only small rodents!
oh, you want horses?? So buy our latest DLC! The Sims Horse Ranch only IDR 479k!!

well fellas, that's what we called MILKING THE FANBASE..
It's capitalistic company strategy tho..

sorry, my country doesn't use US$...

steam version is best version, 1.67. No Origin, no stupid DLC selector that fails and borks your game. The Origin version is 1.69, and I recommend against it. EA screwed up and doesn't care that it ruins your game. 1.69 doesn't change the game at all, just requires Origin and requires the launcher. 1.67 doesn't.
You can get 1.67 on DVD, or I did. But I don't have a DVD drive on this laptop.

Steam offers bundles, there are holiday-themed sales like they did for Halloween and sales throughout the year.

Also, in the EA app, you can put together bundles that include an expansion pack, a gameplay pack and an accessoires pack per bundle. The discount is somewhere around 45 per cent, I think, give or take, and the total price is somewhere around 50 euros, if I remember correctly.

You'll still end up spending a lot of money if you wanna add all the DLCs there are, and I really wouldn't recommend buying every single one even on a discount if you don't play regularly and a lot. I've only started adding on DLCs when I started to play almost every weekend and felt a bit bored with what the base game had to offer.

EA is obviously one of the richest gaming industries as well and The Sims 4 is also almost 10 years old at this point. Why should people surprised by this? Smaller gaming industries are more likely to make cheaper games/dlc (but does not necessarily always mean they have better quality games than more expensive games and not all expensive Steam games have poor quality content either) than the biggest gaming industries that have billions of dollars. Obviously, if basegame alone on Steam were to cost hundreds or thousands of dollars for customers to buy that would be a lot worse than combined dlc costing that much but not basegame because you are being forced to buy all at once if you want basegame that costs hundreds or even thousands of dollars to buy (although, such games are probably rare on Steam and especially those that are within the thousands of dollars price range because it might appear to be a scam meaning that very few people would buy basegame that costs that much to buy on Steam) contrary to many (and not just a few) dlc packs for a combined total price costing that much.

And so my point is that The Sims 4 is almost 10 years and has lots of dlc. If The Sims 4 only had a few dlc packs for a combined total price of almost 1k U.S dollars when not on sale I do not think it would be as popular as it is right now with having many dlc packs in addition to frequent discounts even with basegame being free to play. Take notice as well about some comments mentioning discounts and bundles (which are frequently mentioned) as well where people should take an advantage of them if worried about the price.
