Are the high chairs broken again?
I came back to this game after 2 years not playing it. I was totally excited to find out that when a toddler asks a grownup for food, they would carry them to the high chair, put them on the chair and put a bowl of food there. And then the toddler would actually eat it.

After the last update however, the following happens: They place toddler in high chair, put a bowl of food and then immediately lift the toddler out of the high chair. The toddler then grabs the bowl and walks through half of the house to find an appropriate place to sit and eat. I tried all possible high chairs, it happened with all of them.

Is this a known issue?

Hard to say. In my game it seems to work. But my game is modded through the roof, so it could be fixed by that.
I let toddlers grab a serving from normal food anyway. That way there is less high chair drama than it used to be. For role play purpose you could let the older sims grab a serving for toddlers (never used this function myself), but this could mean they will place the toddler in the high chair and you'll be at the exact point than now.

EVERYTHING IN THIS GAME IS BROKEN. Every. Single. Thing.

I use a mod to lock them into chair so they stay there. Great for keeping them under control as well as letting them actually eat the food without idiot sim parents interrupting actions because toddler made irrational call to simulation to be let out.

In this game toddlers and infants control the parents, which is madness. Madness!!

High Chair Lock by PandaSama mod brings back control to player.

Thank you for your replies. I knew high chairs were a drama and never used them in the past, so I was very happy to find that they worked when I came back. But it seems to have been a very short period ;-)
Im pretty sure high chairs are still working. The problem is both the desire sims have to check on infant/toddler and the desire for toddlers and infants to autonomously queue up requests to adults in the house. This daisy chain of stupid actions causes these issues, especially if some sims involved in this are not part of the active household.

The best thing to do always when needing to get an action completed on a toddler/infant is to reset the adult sim and the toddler/infant sim, then select the toddler/or infant and then call for the action to be completed with the toddler/infant sim. AI will prioritize the requested action on the adult sim. If you still have autonomy on with selected sim, you may have issues because the toddler/infant may start queuing other actions while they wait for the adult. Personally I never have autonomy available to my selected sim but I know some people prefer to leave it on for every sim.

The high chair is not really needed for players who do not yet own Growing Together at least for infants lifestage due to the fact that breastfeeding or feeding with bottle seems like an easier alternative than making infants use high chair which also builds parenting skill as well for anyone that owns Parenthood gamepack. The reason is because you can only get milestones from Growing Together and not from basegame. There are for example specific milestones involved with trying food for the first time from Growing Together involving infants that requires the high chair. As for toddlers they do not really need the high chair either and seems to be more useful for infants than toddler assuming that player owns Growing Together expansion pack, but if I am not mistaken the high chair should still be working properly.

I have autonomy turned on for everyone, except for "selected sim". If autonomy is turned on for every sim including even selected sim that means even the selected sim might do something you do not want that sim to be doing. Such as for example wanting your sim to paint, but does not continue painting because of getting distracted. Only people who want the most chaotic gameplays have autonomy turned on for every single sim. As for autonomy being turned off for every sim it could be useful in some circumstances, but not always and probably should be used only for short periods of time at most. There might be some people who have autonomy turned off all of the time for every sim, but in my personal opinion that requires too much micromanagement due to the fact that the sims do not do anything besides doing what you command them to do which is even harder to do for any household that has 7 or 8 sims, but no pets.

I was actually talking about toddlers. Infants are a mess. I have autonomy off for the selected sim, and the environment between the two different high chair experiences was almost the same. It was not that they wanted to do other stuff. It was adult puts toddler in chair, offers food and then takes toddler out of chair immediately. This was a repeated action with several different high chairs and no distractions or other sims involved.

And yes I am aware about the high chair complications that's why I had never used them in the past. But they did work for a while.

Maybe you have a mod issue? Typically if I reset the sims then have a sim place the toddler in a high chair and give food, if i am still selecting the adult that is performing the action they wont do anything. It can be an issue with unplayed sims or nannies if you place a hungry toddler in the high chair and give the food, a nanny or someone else might then take the toddler out of the chair because they were going to `check on toddler` but yeah I dont know what else to say. High chairs should be working, I have certainly gone through quite a few toddlers during the month of december, havent played much so far this january.

I played today a family with toddler and don’t had any issue with the high chair. I played this family with autonomy on, and they used the high chair without problem for their toddler if I asked them to feed in it. This was a pure vanilla save (modless).

I don’t touch infants; I can’t stand them. I don’t know if the high chair works with them.

Unless if you own Growing Together for getting milestones you do not really need the high chair anyway for infants even if you were to spend more time playing with them.

I use mods with autonomy turned off but as @Xeriath does with a modless game, I haven't experienced any problems using the chair with toddlers. On a couple of occasions, though, I have witnessed what you're experiencing, albeit a minor 'what th are you doing?' annoyance because I'd only seen those couple of instances.
The chair isn't necessary for toddlers, of course. (They love taking meals on a comfy chair.) The only reason I use it is for Bienchen's 'healthy high chair' mod for toddlers.
I'd only guess it may be related to some other suggestions here but perhaps you can find a mod which will fix it as @Angela has.
