The Sims™ 4

The Sims™ 4

Game won't start
Shows a "Preparing game..." dialogue for about 30 seconds, then nothing.

You'd think with their own launcher, they would have this together. But yet here we are, a complete disaster.

Sims 4 Answers might be able to help:
https://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/ct-p/the-sims-4-en

Also if you use mods move them to somewhere on your computer and see if the game works without mods.

Has nothing to do with mods. The game launched 6 hours ago today, now it just goes through this loop. No error message, actually NO message at all, just a broken buggy mess.

Yeah same issue here. I've tried everything I can to fix it, and now I'm stuck with the game not re-downloading properly so I can't access any of the DLC :')

This must be really annoying, wish someone could come up with the answer to this.

I'm having exactly the same issue. God knows why it won't open. It was working fine until the game was trying to auto update itself now I cannot open it at all. I even tried opening EA launcher to see if it will open there but not even EA is opening for me. Weird.

@Kick

Have you tried to directly start you game on EA APP and not over Steam? I know its frustrated, I read you have a toddler and so you clearly don’t have time to waste your time just because EA is again EA.

@Afterglow

Have you tried to repair EA APP? Just redownload the app directly from EA: https://www.ea.com/ea-app?setLocale=en-us then start it and use the repair function. Make sure that none of your security software block anything from EA APP and kill all process via Task-Manager first before you try to start Sims 4 again.

In both case I don’t think it’s a game issue, its seems rather that EA APP again is EA APP. EA APP has still problems for many users.

The EA app just says "Temporarily lost connection"

That's it. No other error log, message or indication of what's wrong. EA just treats the users like infants and complete idiots.

What you need to do is start the EA App from outside Steam. For some reason it looks like Steam doesnt recognise it properly after an update. After you done that once and then closed all the background tasks it launches with Task Manager then The Sims 4 will start as normal from Steam.

You may need to login to the App using your EA login details or Steam login details
