The Sims™ 4

The Sims™ 4

Hear me out; religious options for the Sims4!
I think religion is such a huge part of peoples' lives, why not experiment with different religions or have the freedom to create traditions for your Sims, too? I think it'd be so cool!

The sims medeival had religion. So I don't see why Sims 4 can't.
That was 12, almost 13 years ago. And the market for the game wasn't world wide then.
I support this, only because if EA released a Religion DLC for Sims 4 it would be hilarious. The bugs would be very, very funny and make people very, very angry.

Just like My Wedding Stories?

That will create a really big controversy, that sure will put the nail in the coffin of the series just like what happened to the other sim game. If they should, it better not be an expansion pack that feels like a game pack or worse a kit. Then again that's ea.

" Let's announce our next big thing, it's called the I want to make you range pack. "
Well done ea.
Oh boy if they released a such pack then I finish with this game. I can tolerant many things, even some religion hints/items but a whole pack/patch for this? No Thank you. I don’t mind if people are religions, and I don’t mind if a game released with religion as example Sims Medieval/Any deeper RPG but as DLC or later as patch? No, thanks.

would be cool but i feel like such a serious topic such as religion wouldnt fit in such a goofy game like the sims, even if its a made up religion, it could be classified as offensive depending on how its treated.

Some people might be surprised, but popular youtuber lilsimsie stirred up a lot of controversy with an early access video from For Rent with a woman who wears a hijab being a lesbian and wearing a hibab on The SIms 4 is only just something from CaS instead of adding actual gameplay specifically related to religion. At least some people seemed to be offended claiming that Muslim women cannot be a lesbians while others pointed out that not everyone who wears a hijab are Muslim and that some Muslim women who wear a hijab might actually be queer. If something only just from CaS creates that much controversy it could be worse if it was a dlc that was more specifically about religion. Even Spa Day for example including yoga and meditation practices does not necessarily have to be limited to only just the New Age, Buddhist, and Hindu sims. This is because The Sims 4 is a fantasy game and a person in real life does not necessarily have to be affiliated with religion in real life for practicing meditation/yoga.

Islamic practices have very little if any tolerance to same sex relationships and if there were any such things going on, honour killings are likely to be what you'll be seeing next to restore the honour of the family and to kill the family member bringing such disgust and shame to the family.

Even Christianity has limits on what is and isn't recognised with same sex relationships. The fact is as it is right now, a lot of religions are incompatible LGBT+ values and certain practices those people choose as their lifestyle and creed.

To add religion like it is right now would show EA to be the hypocrites they are either way you look at it, they claim to stand for the values of LGBT+ and yet more than happy to look the other way to bring hard line aspects of religion to the front. That's pracisely why it will never ever happen this way,

If there is to be religion in TS4, it has to be a made up religion, far removed from any sanity, so it can look the part but have nothing in common with the real thing, this way they don't trip up on anything and keep their version of equal rights values.

I do not think that EA ever will add a dlc specifically about religion since they would want to avoid backlash that as I had mentioned previously from edited comment The SIms 4 is supposed to be only just a fantasy game where you play anyway you want which was how the entire series in fact was originally designed even before The Sims franchise was owned by EA as a fantasy game. The closest thing even in the slightest towards religion on The Sims 4 is mainly limited to only just CaS, build mode, My Wedding Stories (to some extent but not entirely despite it being the least popular pack on Steam right now), and Holiday Celebration (although not everyone who celebrates/participates on Christmas Day are necessarily Christians since some people might consider it a secular holiday as well, this pack is inclusive towards Jews and even Indians from India, possibly inclusive towards Muslims from CaS especially for male sims, and it is free on Steam).

There's actually a mod which adds different (fake) religions called 'Rambunctious Religions' by Lumpinou. It's pretty thorough and in the theme of the sims universe, so if you really want religions + things that go along with it, I'd suggest checking it out.

This guy is why they will never make a religion pack. They've been catering to people who don't like religion. Even if there was an option switch, or it was a DLC and you didn't have to buy it, they wouldn't like other people playing it.
EA was so sensitive to this, EA purged all references to Christmas and renamed it winterfest for the winter solstice.
EA has added religious/spiritual symbolism to TS4..Snowy Escapes' shrine..For Rent's holy temple..a collection of CAS items for Muslim sims. EA thought it was being inclusive in adding Islamic culture to CAS. However, Islamic culture IS its religion.

So yeah, EA has added religious/spiritual symbolism to the game. It simply isn't that of primary western religions, notably Christian-based which are likely to be the religions of TS4's majority players (if they have a religion). It's quite possible these players are more inclined to see 'exotic inclusivity' than they are religious/spiritual symbolism. Also, yoga may be a spiritual practise..but western cultures love it as a health/exercise routine (not a bad one, either..js).

Personally, I can't be arst. I don't have nor want religion but I let people live. My sims visit the shrine. They will visit the holy temple when I finally give into For Rent. I create Muslim sims to add to my game..and don't make them queer (even though I know queer Muslims irl).
If EA wants to go full on 'The Sims 4: Cult Life' EP at some point, I'll probably ..definitely buy it.

You are wrong, is not my edgy self which stop this. Its religion and their people which stop that it gets added.

Snowy Escape and the bowing shrine got removed because of what? Because some humans got forced to bowing before these shrines, yes from other humans. The same goes for other religions. You will always have some humans which use these religions as tool and create great suffering. Good example now is America(Texas, i think?) and their right for woman which they try to remove. What think you is next? Yeh, lets take away LGBT-right. As above mentioned most religions are not compatible with LGBT-right and this people don’t need a remember of this in a game which is there as an escape.

Sure, they always can add (RL)religion but for sure it will come with a very big backflash for EA, and they can then repaint their EA logo to a clown.

Demons and Satan already exist on The SIms 4. Just type them in from the search menu on the gallery. This is entirely possible for finding them especially with cc (custom content). Even then people have mixed views about them where some people like them (devil worshipers, some Buddhists, possibly some agnostics, some celebrities such as Christian Bale for example, and etc...) other people do not like them (especially Christians, Jews, possibly Muslims at least to some extent, and maybe some Hindus), and others (obviously atheists and surprisingly Satanists as well, but there could be other examples as well) do not even believe they exist.

Messaggio originale di James3157:
The most religious themed pack on The Sims 4 besides Holiday Celebration (which is free) called My Wedding Stories not surprisingly has the lowest rating on Steam. There is also a little bit of religious theme from Seasons, but not really since the flower bunny and Father Christmas I think are associated more towards being secular as opposed to religion.

There's nothing Christian in The Sims holiday packs because there's nothing remotely Christian in its associated traditions. All of the traditions featured in Sims (and in the actual holiday) are very old Pagan traditions. In times long ago, the Catholic church had been on its crusade to indoctrinate the 'heathens' of the world. Pagans refused to give up their traditions so the church let them keep said traditions by convincing they'd celebrate Christ.
Nonsense! But those old Pagan traditions have ever since stuck to Christian holidays (and same is the flower bunny). They aren't now nor have they ever been anything to do with Christ or Christian-based faiths. Why not? You will find them nowhere in the Christian bible, scripture or teachings..no trees, no lights(fires), no present exchanges, no father winter (not originally a Saint but a god dating back to Greek mythology, see Boreas), and no bunnies on Easter Day. Were there even bunnies in Jerusalem (Golgotha) 2000 years ago?

On the contrary, if you place a hijab or kufi and alike garments on a sim, it's everything to do with religion. Regardless that modern Muslims may claim modesty, morality, cultural tradition, it's indeed a religious practise. Why? Because you will find the reason for wearing these garments in the Quran and that reason is faith based. The Muslim CAS collection is arguably the most religious content in the game. But EA is a dumb western company. If you tell them it's a cultural tradition and 'you should include us', they'll have it in Sims 4.

Also, correct is the only reason EA removed the bowing bit at Snowy Escapes' shrine because Korean simmers got loud then so had the simming community behind them. EA had written an apologetic post about it.
If they're aware of what happens to queer people in Muslim countries, should they not remove that religious CAS content? Goodness knows EA are strong LGBTQ+ allies. (I mean if proposing so. I don't feel they should.) But the queer community didn't get loud. No one got loud.

Again, I'm not bothered. I'm not complaining in pointing this out. I like my Muslim sims. One is a female vampire and doctor in full Muslim attire and I adore her. Do I mind if it's offensive that she's a vampire? I don't. It's my game so f off and watch A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night. The film inspired me to create that sim.
EA can keep or add whatever they will but I believe they'll be stepping in it should they add and mandate further religious/spiritual content. That includes programming NPCs/townies to generate items on themselves..which they do. (e.g. Morgan Fyres growing up to YA wearing a hijab in my game wasn't a conscious decision.)
For now, you don't have to bring your sims to the shrine or temple. You don't have to make your sims practise yoga or meditation. The Muslim content is just CAS attire. Should EA add prayer content to TS4, my guess is the community will explode.
