Awh, mate..read the forums and consider whether or not you're fine to risk it. Personally, I'll be awaiting a bug-fix patch. Best of luck if you do go for it.
Thanks agains :)
2014?..That must be precious. I don't blame you for waiting. I wouldn't want to risk hurting that, either. Yep! Many hopes for a prompt hotfix.
I am personally enjoying For Rent overall, but there are some annoying things about this pack in addition to bugs. Some people like myself do not want to wait (although, I never preorder contrary to some people) and get the pack as soon as possible, but EA probably is going to start fixing bugs from For Rent soon. I do not know when they are going to do it, but I am hoping before Christmas Day. If not before Christmas Day then expect more people to complain until EA finally does something about the bugs by fixing them.
Definitely wait then. You don’t want run in the bug which you have a rental lot and then change your mind and want a restaurant lot there. The lot becomes broken for your save and always change back to a rental lot.

Then you have the bug which Niki mention, only that it can happen too for your landlord!

They won't do it on the 25th, the latest they can get the patch out is on the last working week before the holiday, even developers need time off to be with their families. They have until next week, 22nd friday to bring out a patch, otherwise it will be in the middle of January 2024.
this is a botched/abomination of non working simulation at this point. we have spa's that dont work as they should. restaurants that crash and burn when paparazzis comes to harass celebrity sims. magical sims that shaking their magical wand can have all their needs fill to max or even rejuvenate obtaining inmortality. alien plants that can overtake an entire world expansion and eat your sims brain. that you can defeat with a broken detective-esque method to find out: goverment allows alien plants to overtake the world just to see if the plants can actually do so. etc etc. nothing works as it should and nothing will ever do so on DLC sim 4.
I am under the impression that perhaps For Rent coming out December was a bad idea and should have come out 2024 from the middle of January instead. Especially if it turns out to be true that EA will not fix the bugs before December 23rd which is a Saturday. Even if not all of the bugs get fixed from For Rent (which surprisingly EA has not acknowledged yet that a landlord not getting paid every week is a bug for example) EA is already aware of at least some bugs from For Rent and should fix them soon.
Why can't I "find tenants"? It's the same problem a YouTuber had. Never got fixed; he force-placed family units onto the lot instead. No fun there.
Did they tell us you cannot build waterfront lots as rentals? It's disabled.
At this point, I'm going to need the dev team to open up about rules and guidelines. Hating that they got $40 out of me for this. They need to give half back for selling people half a game.
Sadly, this could have been one of the best expansion packs on The Sims 4 (but probably never better than Get Together, Cottage Living, and Growing Together even with less bugs upon release date) if it did not have so many bugs when it first came out. I am specifically referring to more bugs than Horse Ranch, Discover University, possibly Eco Lifestyle, City Living (although, it is one of the better expansion packs), Snowy Escape (similar to City Living, Seasons, Island Living, and Cats&Dogs as one of the better expansion packs), Seasons, Island Living, Cats&Dogs, possibly Get to Work (although, retail still requires one or more mods for fixing), and maybe even High School Years bugs as well or at least tied when it comes to For Rent bugs vs. High School Years bugs. As for right now I am not even going to look at the Steam reviews again until at least some of the bugs are fixed, but the last time I looked it dropped from 57% to 43% quickly. I do not necessarily hate the pack, but it could have been made better when it first came out and would feel less like a gamepack in my opinion if EA had avoided allowing so many bugs from happening upon release date that almost seems as bad as My Wedding Stories or Dine Out when it comes to bugs, but not quite. As for no waterfronts as residential rentals, it has already been explained that sims living on this lot type could go underwater meaning that having residential rental lots at waterfront lots could potentially break the game.
