The revolt thing despite having five star ratings and have good relations with my tenants is unrealistic actually, but unfortunately I do not think that was a bug. Worse than a bug is that this seems to be an intended feature of revolts happening randomly even if there is no reason for it. Possibly from oversight when EA was busy making this dlc that should have required a trigger for revolts to happen instead of allowing them to happen randomly for no reason.
Yeah, I dunno..that's a no-fun sort of absurdity to me. If you're a good, respectable landlord (which is actually the unrealistic part), for what earthly reason would your tenants revolt? In all honesty, my family and I just love Thailand. We'll get this EP when/if there's a bug-fix patch and I presume there will be, but I'll never use its main feature (rentals/tenants) in my legacy play...unless they change that 'feature'. Still, my legacy household is a Haunted Residential so I'd have to be willing to change that...and I'm not. :))
Ghosts will sometimes come to haunt on their own to haunt residential rental units. Also, a cursed book might randomly appear as well on this specific type of lot.
Oh, it has ghosts galore! :)) I've also enabled the Haunted lot challenge on it so..yeah, the house is a beacon for departed sims.
I'm yet to find cursed books, though. I should google that. Perhaps I'm missing certain events? There's so much going on in that house. It gets spectres, too..all around the lot and anytime a sim knocks at the door, spectres appear to greet the visitor. If it's a vampire, they're angry spectres. (I don't like that.)
Edit: Okay..I believe the Cursed Book event is a new For Rent object. I don't have the EP yet but I'll be looking forward to that one. Also, the 'Haunted' lot challenge was re-named 'Spooky'. I'd forgotten about that.
Re-edit: I apologise @James3157, I'm multitasking here and had missed that you'd typed 'residential rentals' so the above doesn't apply. I'd lose quite a bit if I'm to change from Haunted to Rental, even if I can retain the Spooky lot challenge. My main sim is a Paranormal Investigator so I don't think I'd do it in my legacy play. We'll likely just start a new game with For Rent once it's patched.
never made any sense why they would revolt for no reason, you mentioned an oversight, but an oversight is still a bug in the design of the game and this one like all the others are accidental and need to be dealt with. I'd expect it to be dealt with as well. you shouldn't have revolts for no reason. There must always be a reason for revolts and they must be made clear to the user so they can avoid them and enjoy the gameplay.
Unless if EA considers AI revolts happening randomly for no reason as a bug I would be surprised if they change it that requires triggers for revolts to happen. Probably this issue will not get fixed from the first fix of bugs and probably landlords will get paid once a week like they are supposed to long before this issue gets fixed, but maybe later EA is going to do something about the random revolts happening much later. The biggest problem with revolts happening randomly for no reason is that I am concerned it might have been an intended feature when EA included revolts from this dlc.
Made a decently furnished rental, saved it, went back to my sims family to buy it to rent and... rent is 4 BILLION dollars a day. Why?
On my duplex that my sim owns and lines in one half, we were hanging out with our tenant. We've got a 5 star rating with her, I'm always over there doing maintenance, she's got good furniture and everything, completed every stupid event the game throws at me, never fined her (She's just a teen down on her luck) and in the middle of hanging out... tenant revolt for bad conditions. Can't talk to her while hanging out, have to go back to the lot where her rating drops immediately down to 3. Which tells me stuff like that is a random event and not tied to what actually happens, or at least not super tied to.
Sold an old rental property, was only worth 50k, when I loaded into my new lot I had 0 Simoleons. Placed down a paiting and suddenly had 999999 simoleons.
Having my kid chat to a friend from school while at the park... all their interations are the rental raitings up and down signs...
I've been lucky with so many sims packs but this one is beyond irritating me on bugs alone, not including just weird design issues.
The simple fact more bugs are being mentioned recently from this pack is concerning and I think that I was right when I said that only High School Years even comes close to having as many bugs as For Rent when it comes to expansion packs. While there might be a work around this or a way to prevent it from happening (such as turning off accidental deaths from neighborhood stories or forcing everyone who is renting to be switched towards "played households" and making sure nobody in current rental lot is exclusively elder besides vampires in addition to maybe spellcasters and werewolves) that is definitely a bug and will probably need to be fixed in the near future just like the complaints made when trying to convert a residential rental unit to a restaurant or retail not working and being forced to change lot type to residential rental if uploading this type of build from the gallery. At least five bugs (two relating residential rental, one relating to sims passing away who live at a residential rental unit, at least one relating to landlordord, and at least one relating to the new aspirations being partially bugged) from For Rent expansion or more that still need to be fixed. Someone also mentioned as well that the frequent showering was a problem even without owning For Rent yet before it was fixed.
after this latest patch the gameplay is not better?
Shared is shared space (you click it as shared), then each unit is assigned as its own unit. So a unit is not shared space as it's a unit.
So a unit is not a shared space in Sims 4. It's a unit, like how a house operates.
The bug is likely the same one in Sims 4 where sims route themselves to something they want to use (eg computer or guitar etc) BEFORE checking if door is available for them to legitimately use, so magically get to object they routed to even if door is locked to them.
My personal fix is via a mod that locks objects instead of worrying about door locks which simply don't work. I am not going to set doors to only be useable by family members as I want visitors and to generally play game as normal.
I encountered this bug (sims from other units letting themselves into my unit and treating it like shared space) when playing in a completely fresh and unmodded game, while I was waiting for my mods to be updated for the patch.
Since putting my mods back in so I can use my mod that sidesteps this stupid bug/poor coding the issue has not returned.
