how to restart the game?
it says that i need to restart the game in order to use the mods but how do you do that? I exited the game and tried again but its still telling me to restart it

Exit the game completely and let it shut down. You need to enable mods and custom content in the game options.

i believe i have, you just exit the game and let it shut down before going back on it. then go back on and turn them back on

i believe i have, you just exit the game and let it shut down before going back on it. then go back on and turn them back on
How to turn them (mods and custom content) on including scripts is explained in the guide I posted in the first response to this topic.

How to restart, assuming you were told to do so because you turned mods on after an update which makes the game shut mods off
select exit from the sims 4 menu.
Shut off computer .
cut off power to your house.
Move to the Northwest Territories, Canada. Hunt Moose with camera, take photos.
move back to where you were.
Turn power back on to your house.
Boot computer.
Start sims.

Not all steps are strictly necessary. People report good results with just going back to Windows Desktop and then restarting the Sims 4™
