Who uses long age for sims?
Was wondering how people feel about having it on that setting vs medium. would you say it affects gameplay at all? or is it more of a play it the way you want to type of deal

There's a mod for "real" immortality potion so you can keep those you really want, from ever ageing. Doesn't work on kids, but works from teen to elder.
You choose immortality as a trait.
I just let those who are insignificant age normally then. :steamsalty:

I always play long. I switch between multiple households (I keep aging on for only the played household), while the rest of the NPC world is still aging automatically. So if I don't have long aging, they'd all be old age/ dead by the time I cycle through my households. I usually manually age my individual sims when I feel each one is ready to go to the next lifestage, since obviously they're aging a lot slower than the rest of the world. So long lifespan is a very practical/ more realistic thing for my usage.

i dont use aging at all on any of my households

as for how i feel about medium vs long lifespan, well that all comes down to the individual user if you want your sims to die from aging but you dont want them to die quickly then enable long lifespan and vice versa if you dont want em to live as long use short lifespan

i miss the sims 3 where we could manually select how long each lifestate/season lasted

I use long life and 28 day seasons so that each "month" is an appropriately long season, the age up is done in a span that seems commensurately realistic, and I'm not coming up against a holiday so soon after the last one.
of course, when I get a spellcaster I brew the Immortality potion asap for "keeper" Sims and then make a ton of rejuvenation potions because they're super cheap (1 apple). It can be tedious but I don't mind and on long life it's easier to catch before the year's up.
As a bonus, you can level up yours and any other spellcasters in your house by having them brew the rejuvenation potions.
I still don't know if you can store them in the fridge, but i have used the cardboard boxes to store community potions so everyone in the house has access.

Just my opinion, but I personally think that even just normal lifespan on The SIms 4 seems long. Especially with lifespan being made longer from HighSchool Years and infant update. However, I also have accidental deaths turned off usually (unless if I want it on for a limited time only or forget to turn it off) for neighborhood stories similar to move out (always, unless if I forget because it causes confusion with families who decide to leave) and adopt pet (frequently turned off, but not always).

I used in the past long for my gameplay, but I encounter bugs with it. Long never worked for my right after they fixed the maid speed. If my sims were sleeping on another lot as the home lot my sim aged 2-5 days pro day. Then I got this bug: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-Sims-age-up-go-back-in-age-days-added-reduced/td-p/11693048 , which still can happen in a vanilla game.

Now I play always with aging off because it doesn’t make a difference for me, I only allowed played sims to age. Generally, you have much more time for all things, but it can bug out. So, I don’t recommend playing with long. Use MCCC and normal to change the aging, it’s a lot safer and you don’t get the bug above.
