Compatibility with the EA App

Hey, I bought the main game and most of its expansion packs on Origin, which is now replaced by the EA App, and I wanna know: If I buy other expansions through Steam, wwill they still work for The Sims 4 if played on the EA App?

I don’t recommend mixing it if you still don’t have any DLC on steam. I can work without issue but can causes issue, and EA HELP will mostly not help with it.

If you still want to mix it, you need to link your steam account with EA and then install the game via steam and start it in steam that it recognizes your purchased steam DLC. It should recognize your origin DLC without issue if the EA APP works as it should.

I have DLC from both EA/Origin and Steam. I have no issues.

Well, over ten minutes ago the EA app tried installing Growing Together (which I got on Steam), but it's still on the "preparing stage." Since it's getting close to bed time for me, I'm gonna try it again tomorrow and see if it yields any results.

Well, I'm starting the download of those expansions again; let's see how long they take this time.

Edit: Got a "There's a problem with your download" notification, meaning it didn't download.

I must ask this: 1. Are you using MAC? 2. Have you Sims4 correct remove from EA APP and install again on Steam? As I write above, you need Sims4 install on Steam because EA APP can only download GT if it on steam(<- steam should download it not EA APP)

If I am wrong here, please correct me, Lady(Point 2). Specially the part with deinstall it from EA APP, I don’t know if this still actual or if my info is outdated. (All my DLC + Basis game are from Steam, and I never got any big issue with the EA APP)

1) No, I'm using PC

2) I actually had the EA version uninstalled before installing the Steam version. I'm currently trying to see if uninstalling and reinstalling the Steam version would work (though on the EA version, I canceled the installations of the two expansions).

If you don’t have any other games from EA, it would be maybe smart to remove EA APP too and check in Task Manager if EA Background Service is closed and not run. Steam will EA APP install again and after this you need to log in again (maybe manual, I needed to start EA APP manual for the first time; I got there the issue with EA APP is there and closed again but sims 4 would not start. Manual login + remember, close EA APP + Kill EA Background Service via Task Manager fixed this for me)

Yes, this is correct. The Steam version can download Steam or EA DLC. It's just that any EA DLC will only show up in the EA App - you will only see Steam DLC in the Steam App. ALL DLC will show up in the EA app. It does on my system.
