no all dlc in your EA app that you got before steam should world. all mine work just fine.
Hi Hi OP here,
how I fixed my issue after magically fixing it before (had to uninstall a few times for a mod I wanted) I found out that you do not need Origin/EA to play. just link your Steam account to the Origin/EA app (it will login every time you start the game via Steam) and I just went into my EA folder for the sims and just copied all of the EP file folders into where you have Steam installed and into the "The Sims 4" file for steam. Works every-time even if you purchase an EP off of Origin/EA app just gotta move it over to the Steam folder (I'm sure its the same way around if you want it through the Origin/EA app)
Second, the reason for the issue you're experiencing is that Origin bought DLC are NOT backwards compatible with Steam.
You can ALWAYS play any Steam bought TS4 DLC on Origin. But you CAN'T play any Origin bought DLC by launching the game on Steam.
The first reason why EA did this was to combat piracy. Hence the DRM infested spyware that is Origin and EA Desktop. The second reason is that this persistent online connection allows EA to keep tabs on Simmers. By exploiting/monetizing you as a player while forcing you to play with a persistent online connection. Apparently EA has leaned NOTHING from the failure that was SC5. d
And the way to do that is to make players indirectly launch the game through their Origin platform (if they're launching the game on Steam.
How? Through registering all your Steam based TS4 game keys on the publisher site (in this case Origin). Steam tends to have DLC keys for certain publishers like EA, Ubisoft etc. So players have to register their Steam bought TS4 DLC by LINKING their Steam account to their Origin one. EA Desktop app will NOT launch the game otherwise. Also note if either the Origin or EA Desktop app become corrupted (often due to game updates), then you'll have to either repair and/or reinstall their latest versions.
Why? Because Origin cannot compete with the sheer number of PC gamers who prefer to play their games on a superior gaming platform. aka Steam. This is why Steam bought TS4 DLC is NOT backwards compatible with Origin. It's the only way EA can keep track of (and so monetize) the bigger Steam TS4 player base. And this goes for any EA publisher game franchise btw. Not just TS4.
Either stick to Steam or Origin. And buy all your TS4 content on one platform or the other. So you avoid your DLC not showing up on one or the other platform.
I'd recommend buying ALL of your TS4 DLC off Steam. First your Steam DLC game keys (via your linked Steam account) will ALWAYS guarantee that you NEVER loose your DLC access on Origin. If you buy your DLC on Origin, Origin will give you several codes in case you lose access to/get locked out of your account. If you don't have those game codes, you're F@CKED.
Second, buying on Steam saves you the bloody migraine everyone is having atm with the latest round of broke @s$h@T hot fixes/updates. Which appear to have corrupted either or both of the EA Desktop/Origin clients. And don't forget the joke of a non existent CS and Tech support from Origin when you try to get help on that useless EA tech support site.
Finally, if you find that your game is too much of a broken/buggy mess, then (within the refund policy constraints) at least Steam will refund your money. Unlike Origin....
